añadiendo más oportunidades al programa

Siglo 21 PASOS! Según un nuevo subsidio,

podemos ofrecer 3 nuevos programas en los

NUEVOS

PROGRAMAS!! Notas de IMPRINT

Notes from IMPRINT Welcome 21st Century Students at CVIS!

We are excited to be working with such an energetic group of students at the Conewago Valley

Intermediate School. In the month of April, we will be working on various projects and activities focused

on Earth Day which is April 21st. We will talk about

things we can do at school and in our community to help conserve and protect our resources and our

environment. We look forward to sharing more with you in May's

newsletter! Miss Melissa

NEW OXFORD IMPRINT

This month we welcome 2 new students that have

joined our program; they are Alex and Sergio! This month we did banana pancakes and we also de-

signed our own clay ornaments. Some of us did Mex-

ican hats while others did small pots. Next month, we are looking forward to meet with our Gettysburg

IMPRINT friends to go to the laser-tag field trip in April. At the Arts Council, our friends Juan, Edith G.,

Edith L., and Ariadne have been attending the cook-ing class. They share with us their stories about the

delicious recipes they have been cooking.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

According to Merriam-Webster, a LEADER is a

powerful person who controls or influences what

other people do; a person who leads a group, or-

ganization, country, etc.

We hope to identify and PROMOTE leadership

among our 21st Century students. Students with

leadership characteristics are invited to have very

special opportunities within our program.

In April, middle school students who demonstrate

leadership skills will be visiting Messiah College

for two days for a special program.

In May, a few students and one special parent

from our program will travel to Washington DC

for to days, attending a RALLY supporting after-

school programs. There we will speak to our

elected congressmen and urge them to continue

funding afterschool programs.

Some high school student leaders will be invited

to attend the Diversity Institute in June at Miseri-

cordia University, which is a 5-day leadership

experience.

What exactly ARE leadership skills? Are you a

leader? Here are just a few characteristics:

1) facing and solving problems

2) clear communication

3) teamwork

4) taking risks and making mistakes

5) setting goals

6) taking responsibility

Josiah, and Miss Jodie with our new 5th and 6th

grade students at the 21st Century program at Ber-

mudian Springs Middle School. BIENVENIDOS!

El verano se acerca! Estamos empezando a planificar nuestras actividades

SUMMER IS COMING!

We are beginning to plan our summer activities in-

cluding some leadership programs, our Soccer Camp,

and of course Summer School of Excellence.

The spaces are limited for these special activities. 21st

Century students who are ACTIVELY PARTICIPAT-

ING in the after-school programs will be the first ones

invited for summer programs. If you have not had

good attendance in the after-school programs, it is

possible you won’t be invited in the summer program.

If you’re participating in spring sports, talk to our staff

and attend the programs when you have time – this

way we will keep you on our “active” list.

IMPORTANT /

A very happy birthday this month to the following

students from everyone at the 21st century program.

If you see them during the school day wish them a

happy birthday!!!!
