We have to admit that ours was far more festive and visible for a lot of non-Rotarians. Also our Dictionaries project is way bigger than of some other clubs, reaching out to more children than what I have seen so far. We can be proud of our club! But there is still a lot of work before we will have all our projects registered at Rotary Central. I thank everybody who already sent me description of the projects and still need the help of our Secretary to get this all done. On April 9 we will have the Club Leadership Assembly in Reno. It is important for new members to attend this event as well as for any other members. The early bird registration for the District Conference, 13-15 May is open on the District’s website. Hopefully we will have a crowd to welcome John Sullivan as District Governor and Mike Flag as Pres- ident. It will be a special event for our club. If we want a citation this year we will need at least 3 new lady mem- bers, sponsored by somebody who never was a sponsor before. So please all of you start to look for new members. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I saw on Facebook some other club's Rotary Birthday celebrations, with cupcakes and cookies.

Hopefully we will have a crowd to welcome John Sullivan as District Governor and Mike Flag as Pres-ident. It will be a special event for our club.

If we want a citation this year we will need at least 3 new lady mem-bers, sponsored by somebody who never was a sponsor before. So please all of you start to look for new members. And of course gentleman are most welcome also, in spite of this being Internation-al Women’s Day celebrated by Rotary International.

THE WAY TOO COOL GRANDMA

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

As you know, Mike went to San Jose to participate in the annual Presidents

Elect Training Seminar (PETS) this past weekend. Mike learned techniques, pro-

tocols and procedures for a successful year as our club’s president beginning in

July. Mike is already planning on asking each of you for your assistance in mak-

ing this the best club we can be. Please think about what you can contribute to

the club’s success. Do you have ideas? Is there something you would like us to

do differently? Contact Mike and share your ideas for the club’s future.

THANK YOU

We appreciate the assistance offered by the following

members in creating this week’s newsletter:

IF SERVING IS

BELOW YOU,

LEADERSHIP IS

BEYOND YOU

Sharon Hampton ran The Way Too Cool Ultra 50k on Sunday, March 6th and in spite of the heavy rains and extremely muddy trails she came in first in her age division. Sharon is quoted as saying: “Today I feel great! What an experience”

Sharon’s daughter posted on Facebook: “So proud of my mom who at 73 finished her first ultra trail run of 31+ miles. Of course she finished 1st in her age group and in under 8 hours. Oliver and I have a saying when times get tough - no excuses allowed what would grandma do? Mom you are an inspiration and a total kick ass chick!!”

Great job, Sharon! We are all very proud of your accomplishment!

The Interact Club met last night

and had a lively discussion on ways

that they could raise money for Polio Plus and

other community based projects. President Ade-

laide and VP Madie are doing a great job under

the guidance and leadership assistance of Ash-

ley C and Jim W. President Adelaide tells me

that one of her long range goals is to ensure the

continued success of the club even after she graduates later this year.

There was a bit of water running through

Sutter Creek on March 7th after the rains

from the over night storms.

MARCH BIRTHDAYS

FREE DINNER?

As the old adage goes: There’s no such thing as

a “free dinner”. If you are the lucky winner of

the free dinner, you will actually have to work

for it by providing the club with a good joke

AND by being the GREETER at the meeting.

Come early, grab the GREETER’s badge and

welcome our fellow members and guests to the

meeting. This is an old school Rotary protocol

that President Irene is bringing back to encour-

age fellowship within the membership.
