and is a member of the Indian Public Schools’
Conference. General K Sunderji and General R S Dayal
established this school in 1986 under HQ Western
command. The school has been providing quality
education to the wards of Army Personnel’s since its
inception.

SCHOOL EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2016
Mr Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Principal APS Dagshai
attended the 3rd National Conference School Excellence
Awards 2016 Ceremony on 04 Feb 2016. APS Dagshai
has been awarded with a Certificate and memento for
being ranked amongst the Top 20 CBSE schools of
Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab
and Uttaranchal. Army Public School, Dagshai is also
ranked amongst the top 10 CBSE affiliated schools of
Himachal Pradesh.
Keeping in mind the security
concerns, security mock drills by the
local unit, 11 Madras were
conducted in the school twice in the

INTER SCHOOL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
School Boys & Girls basketball team participated in Inter School Basketball Tournament held at St Luke’s
Solan from 28 Apr to 30 Apr 2016. 15 schools of district Solan, Shimla and Sirmour participated in this
tournament. Girls team of APS Dagshai got runners’ up position.

INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIAD OF MATHEMATICS
AND SCIENCE
* Students of APS Dagshai won 05 Gold, 05 Silver
and 04 Bronze medals in the International Olympiad
of Mathematics which was held at Army Public
School, Dagshai on 18 Nov 2015. 177 students from
classes V XII participated in this Olympiad. 03
students have been selected for Level 2 of the
exam.
* Students of APS Dagshai won 07 Gold, 06 Silver
and 07 Bronze medals in the International Olympiad
of Science which was held at Army Public School,
Dagshai on 19 Nov 2015. 174 students from classes
V XII participated in this Olympiad. 12 students
have been selected for Level2 of the exam.
ALL INDIA FINE ARTS EXHIBITION
05 paintings sketched by the students of APS,
Dagshai were exhibited in the All India Fine Arts
Exhibition at Shimla on 27 Dec 2015. Jaya Shrees of
ClassXIISc got 2nd prize in Open category.
STATE LEVEL PAINTING COMPETITION
02 girls participated in a State Level Painting
Competition organized by Centre for Ground Water
Resources, Regional Director Dharamshala on 20 Jan
2016. Shweta of ClassVIII was given consolation
prize of Rs 1000/ and Srishti, ClassVII was awarded
with a certificate of Participation.

State in 41st National Basketball
Championship for Seniors (Boys & Girls) held
at Pudducherry from 01 Feb to 06 Feb 2016.
IPSC SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP
Samar Pratap Singh of Army Public School, Dagshai has brought laurels to
the school by standing third in the U 17 .177 Air Pistol IPSC Shooting Cham
pionship at The Emerald Heights International School, Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Prestigious schools from all over the country participated in this champion
ship.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY
The Investiture Ceremony was organized in the auditorium on 09 May 2016. The Chief Guest for the
occasion was Brig O P Singh, Commandant 14 GTC and Chairman APS, Dagshai. The appointments
were swornin, led by the School Captain; a group photograph was also taken with the Chief Guest.
The Chief Guest congratulated the appointments and inspired them to shoulder the responsibilities
given to them.

WORKSHOP ON LIFE SKILLS
A workshop on the life challenging
experience for teenage girls was
conducted for the girls of classesV to XII
by Dr Parul Pareek on 07th & 08th Dec 2015
in the school auditorium. The workshop
mainly aimed at eliminating the negative
beliefs, inculcating self confidence and
to boost up esteem in girls. Topics like
emotions, bullying, peer pressure,
menstrual cycle, hormonal changes
obesity, family relations, friendship and
dating challenges were discussed in
great detail. The girls openly participated
in the discussion and it was a very
enriching experience for all the girls, who
were immensely benefitted by this
workshop.
COUNSELLING CUM INTERACTION SESSION
Mrs Jyotsana Harjai, TGT psychology and
counsellor, conducted a counseling cum interaction
session with the students of ClassIX & X on 22
Dec 2015 about Internet Addiction & Self help
techniques to overcome this addiction.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR NEW
STUDENTS
An orientation programme was organized for the
new students in the school Auditorium by Mrs
Jyotsana Harjai, Counsellor on 18 Apr 2016. The
aim of this orientation programme was to help the
new students adapt and adjust in their new
surroundings, dealing with homesickness,
challenges of hostel life. The students were briefed
about the code of conduct of the school.
MOTIVATIONAL LECTURE
An Army motivational lecture for the students of
class es X & XII was conducted by Lt Col Shivendra
Singh, Education Officer 14 GTC on 13 Apr 2016 at
1130 h in the school auditorium. He motivated the
students to join the Indian Defence Forces,
particularly the Indian Army. He gave detailed
information about institutions like the NDA, IMA,
OTA and other entry schemes. He also explained
various components of written test and interview
in the Service Selection Board.

CBSE REGIONAL LEVEL SCIENCE EXHIBITION
02 students, Ashish Sharma and Anurag Upadhyay of APS Dagshai participated in CBSE Regional Level
Science Exhibition from 17 – 19 Dec 2015 and exhibited their project on Kedarnath Tragedy under the
theme, `Disaster Management’ at Bhavan Vidyalaya Panchkula.

COMPETITION
Miss Deepali Singh D/o Mr L B Singh, Class
VII of Army Public School Dagshai has won
prize in National Level Essay Writing
Competition (CategoryII, ClassesVVIII)
conducted by CBSE. She will be awarded a
Certificate of Achievement and a Cash Prize
of Rs 3,000/ .
DIGITAL WELLNESS ONLINE COMPETITION
WINNERS (HIMACHAL PRADESH)
Digital Wellness Online Competition was held
in the school in first week of Jul 2015 as per the
directions of CBSE and FDRC New Delhi. Master

Gurung of classXII of APS Dagshai has won
Digital Wellness Online Competition in the Senior
Male Category from the state of Himachal
Pradesh. 04 participants (02 Boys and 02 Girls)
have been selected from each State and were
invited on 04 Feb 2016 at Stein Auditorium, India
Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Master
Rup Bahadur Gurung attended the award
ceremony and received a certificate and a trophy
for Digital Wellness online competition on 04 Feb
2016 by the Minister of Information and
Technology , Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad.

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
The Principal, Staff and students of Army Public
School, Dagshai celebrated World Earth Day on
20 Apr 2016 with great gaiety and enthusiasm.
The occasion was marked with a number of
activities. The celebrations started with the
speeches, highlighting the importance of World
Earth Day. It was followed by quiz where the
participants of Red, Green, Blue and Yellow
Houses took part. The children also took a
pledge to save the Earth.
WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY
ASTRONOMY DAY CELEBRATION
On the occasion of World Astronomy Day, 2016,
under the guidelines of CBSE, the school
organised Poster Making Competition, class
discusion and seminar to provide an opportu
nity to the student to explore universe in their
own ways. A special assembly was organised
on the ocassion. The student actively partici
pated in the poster making competion and drew
picture of the solar system and commonly seen
constellations in the sky. The students also
made collages on eminent astromers and the
universe.
To create awareness among the students
about the negative impact of tobacco, the
CBSE directed the schools to organise poster
making & essay writing competitions in the
school as part of World No Tobacco Day.
The initative was informative and educative
and will prove beneficial in the long run in
eradicating the menace of tobacco
amongst the society members.

remaining students from each
house went to Paonta Sahib,
Nahan (1 PARA) Chandigarh (Rock
Garden, Rose Garden), Shimla,
Pinjore Garden and Kasauli from
26 Mar to 30 Mar 2016.

VIJAY DIWAS CELEBRATION
The 45th Vijay Diwas was celebrated in the school on 16 Dec 2015 to mark the Military victory of the Indian
Armed Forces over the Pakistani Armed Forces. Special morning assembly was organized where students
delivered talks and recited poems. Principal, Mr Sanjay Kumar Mishra addressed the students & staff. The
Principal, Bursar, Academic Coordinator and school captain garlanded the bust of Late Maj Udai Singh, SC,
SM, an alumnus of the school.
New year was celebrated in the school on 04 Jan 2016. A tea party was organized on the occasion.
Republic Day was celebrated in the school on 26 Jan 2016. Mr S K Mishra, Principal, APS Dagshai unfurled
the National Flag followed by the National Anthem.
AWES RAISING DAY
The 33rd AWES Raising Day was celebrated on 29 Apr
2016. In a special assembly held on the occasion,
the students were briefed about the history of AWES
and important role it is playing in imparting quality
education at affordable cost to the wards of Army
personnels. Brig O P Singh, Commandant 14 GTC &
Chairman APS Dagshai was the Chief Guest. To mark
the AWES Raising Day, an Impromptu Show was also
put up by the new students followed by Happy Hour.
Lohri was celebrated in the
school premises on 13 Jan
2016.A dinner was
organized for the staff and
their family members.
Holi was celebrated
in the school on
24 Mar ‘16.

SPICMACAY PERFORMANCE
A Kathak dance performance was organized in the
school auditorium on 07 May 2016 where a well
known national and international kathak dancer,
Mahua Shankar performed to create awareness
among the youth regarding the importance of In
dian tradition and ancient dance forms.
The concert was sponsored by SPIC MACAY. The
dancer and her team were welcomed by principal,
Mr SK Mishra. The concert began where Ms
Mahua Shankar gave detailed information about
the dance forms and various mudras. The artiste
was acompanied by Mr Mithilesh Jha on the tabla,
Mr Muraad Ali on the sarangi and Ms Nupur
Shankar as a the vocalist.
