should possess M.Sc. Physics degree with minimum of B grade (CGPA: 3.00). Preference will be given to the enrolled M.Phil students. Research fellow who is not in receipt of any scholarship will be preferred. Already employed but on leave of any type will not be considered for appointment. Applications are invited for one position of PhD research fellow at a consolidated pay of Rs. 25,000/- per month in the HEC funded project entitled “Mineralization of Inorganic Nanoparticles into Ferritin Proteins”. Applicant should possess M.Phil Physics degree with minimum of B grade (CGPA: 3.00). Preference will be given to the enrolled PhD student doing dissertation in the Field of nanomaterials for biomedical applications. Research fellow who is not in receipt of any scholarship will be preferred. Already employed but on leave of any type will not be considered for appointment. 4. Applications are invited for the recruitment of one post of Reserch Associate in international consignment project titled “Column Study of Gold Bioleaching from Low-Grade Gold Ore” at consolidated pay of Rs. 20,000/- per month with qualification of M.Sc./M.Phil (Chemistry) having at least 3.00 CGPA. Application along with all documents should reach the office of the PI, Dr. Sadia Ilyas Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, UAF in office hours within 5 days after the publication of this notice. 5. Applications are invited for hiring one PhD student in Agri. Extension at a consolidated pay of Rs. 25,000/- per month under the HEC research project entitled “Analysis of Societal Role in Conflict Resoluation Among Farm Families in Punjab-Pakistan” being run by Dr. Aqeela Saghir, Lecturer, Institute of Agri. Extension and Rural Development, UAF. The applicant must be enrolled as PhD student in Agri. Extension/Rural Development. The applicant is required to submit his/her applications within 7 working days after the publication of this notice in the office of PI. The selected candidate has to conduct research within the framework of the project.

Applications are invited for the post of MS/M.Phil student on plain paper along with attested copies of academic certificates, CNIC @ Rs. 20,000/- per month for HEC funded research project No. HEC-NRPU-4929 titled “Evaluation of bacteriocin as therapeutic agent produced by Bacillus subtilis” in the Institute of Microbiology. 7. Applications are invited for the recruitment of a PhD studentship available in HEC funded Project entitled “Development and genetic characterization of Grapefruit haploids, polyploids and mutants for hybridization and germplasm enhancement” at a consolidated pay of Rs. 25,000/- per month with the qualification of M.Sc. (Hons.) in Horticulture and PhD student having experince in Tissue Culture, Breeding/Biotechnology in Fruit crops with at least 3.20 CGPA. Applications are invited for one post of Research Assistant at a consolidated pay of Rs. 12,000/- per month in the Pak Korea funded project entitled “Compositional and functional Analyasis of Human Milk with Special Refference to Malnourished Mothers in Pakistan”. Applicant should possess M.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons.) in Food and Nutrition/Human Nutrition and Dieterics degree with minimum of B grade (CGPA: 3.00). 9. Applications are invited from Pakistani nationals who are not married to a foregn national, on the prescribed form obtainable free of cost on any working day during office hours from the office of the Registrar (Personnel Section) for one post of PhD Student on temperrary basis in the project titled “Entomophathogens and other bio-retional strategies for the control of Red Palm Weevil (RPW) Rhynchohorus ferrugineus (Oliver (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) on date palms” funded by HEC being executed by Dr. Waqas Wakil, Assistant Professor/Principal Investigator, Department of Entomology, UAF. The candidates are required to possess MSc (Hons.) degree in the field of Entomology/Plant Pathology with at least two first divisions (One in MSc/BSc (Hons.) and no third division in the academic career. Experience of post MSc/BSc (Hons.) research in the relevant field will be given preference, the selected candidate will be paid @ Rs. 20,000/- pm fixed. Only one copy of the application is required the attested copies of academic certificates and detailed marks certificates. ASSUPTION OF CHARGE The Vice Chancellor, in exercice of the powers vested in him under Section 15(4)(vi) of the UAF Act, 1973 has been pleased to:- (i) Direct Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad Maann, Chairman, Department of Rural Sociology to

look after the duties of the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences w.e.f. 01-10-2017, till such

time a regular appointment of Dean is approved by the worthy Chancellor.

(ii) Direct Dt. Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry, Associate Professor to work as Incharge,

Institute of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development with effect from 01-10-2017,

till further orders. The Vice Chacellor will retain the charge of the office of the Director, Institute of Business

Management Sciences with effect from 01-10-2017, till further orders.

PROTOCOLS AND PROGRAMS TO CURB OPPORTUNITIES FOR RADICALIZATION OF STUDENTS OR UNIVERSITY STAFF, AND STRENGTHENING SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS Some of the recent acts of violence and terrorism in the country have exposed involvement of University students in such disastrous incidences. This is quite unfortunate and underscores that intolerance, radicalization, and extremism is on the rise, and Universities present no exception to this ominous challenge. HEC has been constantly sensitizing the top leadership of the Universities of possible security threats, its manifestations and how negative potencies plan,

approach and organize such brutalities. The last Vice Chancellor’s Committee Meeting held in Islamabad on May 08, 2017 called for determined efforts on the following accounts: (i) Connection with the students should be strengthened and faculty visibility may be ensured in all social spaces across the university so as to eliminate disconnect with the students and between faculty themselves. (ii) Mentoring and counseling of students should become a regular University activity. Any unusual behavior must be carefully monitored and analyzed. (iii) Directorate of students should be established for registering problems of the students and offering solutions thereof. (iv) Tutorials, sports and extracurricular activities should be widely promoted and made part of the university’s routine business for ensuring constant engagement with students. (v) Creating stream of Public Lecturer for promoting understanding, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence in adversity, social rights and obligations. The Vice Chancellors Committee Meeting was followed up with a Seminar organized in collaboration with the ISPR on role of youth in rejecting extremism on May 18, 2017 at GHQ, Rawalpindi wherein a broad spectrum of realities and difficulties were put forth, and the universities leadership was encouraged to institute sustainable programs and processes to address the eminent threat of radicalization. Foregoing in view, the HEC would reiterate that Higher Education Sector is expected to not only rid any involvement in acts of extremism but institute measures that engage youth and students in gainful academic and social activities envisaging professionalism, higher moral and ethical conduct, tolerance and respect for divergence. The confident that with your persistent personal involvement and supervision, we would be able to develop Higher Education Institutions as better and indisputable places of learning, training and societal development.

PLACEMENT OF PhD THESIS FOR PEER REVIEW 1. Hafiz Ghulam Muhu-Din Ahmed, Regd. No. 2012-ag-504, PhD student of the Department of Plant Breeding and

Genetics has placed his PhD thesis entitled “Genetic analysis of some quality and yield contributing traits in

bread wheat under drought stress” for Peer Review in the Library, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics

from 03-10-2017 for one week. The faculty and the students are invited to peruse the thesis for any correction

and improvement.

2. Mr. Kashif Rashid, Regd. No. 2006-ag-1367, PhD student of the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics has

placed his PhD thesis entitled “Genetics of water deficit tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)” for peer review

in the Library, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics from 05-10-2017 for one week. The faculty and the

students are invited to peruse the thesis for any correction and improvement.

No. 2007-ag-245, PhD Chemistry student of the Department of Chemistry has successfully defended her thesis entitled “Synthesis and applications of reactive Triazine based UV protectors for textile” as required under the rules on 28-09-2017.
