“Tainan in Progress: Society and life in the Tainan region”

Tainan has been through several structural

changes geographically and the cultural

landscapes since 17th century. Turning out

that the most attractive, the most cultural, and

the oldest city in Taiwan, TAINAN, was

established.

The National Museum of Taiwan History is

located in central Tainan. In recent years, we

have proactively communicated with lands

and people in Tainan by old-time collections,

field studies and exhibitions to unveil the

buried past and the ongoing stories of Tainan.

“Tainan in Progress” is an exhibition featuring

in two themes, which are “The Pace of Family

Life” and “The Flavor of Southern Capital”. It

integrates the precious stories, collections of

families, and the development of cultural

history in Tainan. By watching the life tracks of

the families, we hope to go though the

memories with you from different generations

and the unique culture in Tainan.

Temples are the places where most people practice their religious activities and

seek for spiritual dependence. Hence, in order to increase the willingness of citizens to

screen for colorectal cancer and breast cancer and accordingly cures those who were

diagnosed cancers as soon as possible, and reduce the damage caused by the

diseases, department of health, Tainan City Government, pioneered the integration of

the cancer screen with premium for lamps lighting at the 51 temples in Tainan. Hope to

motivate citizens’ awareness and action fighting against cancers.

In view of the increasing percent of people who contracted colorectal cancer and

breast cancer, discovering and curing the diseases in the early stage becomes the

priority. In order to increase the willingness of citizens to screen for these cancers,

department of health, Tainan City Government has coordinated with each regional

temple for the health promotion from the period of Nov 4th to Dec 31st 2014.

Residents at the age of 50 to 70 who live or establish household register in Tainan

underwent the examination of colorectal cancer, or women at the age of 45 to 69

screened the breast cancer, are eligible to get the point exchange card at each health

center, hospital, and clinic; also, the lamp lighting or goods for good luck will be

available for those who hold the cards.

The surroundings of the Holland Village, Deyuan Pi is beautiful, and the Holland Windmills

are main characteristics. It is a nice choice for a family to spend their leisure time here.

A cute cow was made by arranging 4500 windmills in different colors during Chinese

New Year this year in Deyuan Pi, and it has become a famous attraction. In order to not

only develop the garden but also promote the regional economics and tourism, Tainan City

Government Tourism Bureau arranged 2014 Windmill Festival in Holland Village, Deyuan

Pi. The festival will be hold from Nov. 1st to Nov. 23rd.

Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau revealed that the main shaft of the activity is

windmill maze, and it will let children enjoy maze games. Besides, there will be barricade

and DIY activities in the weekends, and street artists will also attend the games. Further,

areas for painting and picnic were also arranged for people to enjoy their leisure time in

2014 Taiwan Cycling Festival -BURTON CHIU

Tourism Bureau is promoting Chief OH Bear patterns painted

on Taipei MRT right after the “Searching for OH Bear Chief” taxi

commercials for our Taiwan cycling festival this year. People can

take photos of the painted MRT and upload to Taiwan cycling

festival facebook website to be in the draw to win Chief OH Bear

products.

The Taipei MRT which painted with OH Bear Chief patterns

that Tourism Bureau is promoting for 2014 Taiwan Cycling Festival

will be operating during November for a month of MRT Bannan

Line. Not only Chief OH Bear will be painted with cloak on but also

in the front part of the train there will be Chief OH Bear cycling

and taking the lead in front face, which will be in a whole new style

that no one has seen before.

To combine with this event, Tourism Bureau also announced

on the Facebook website there will also be “Chief OH Bear

catching” event, this event ends on Nov. 20

and post it on the Facebook website with the code “I saw this

Painted MRT in _____ station” and be in the draw to win prizes

including Chief OH Bear memory stick (5 available), Chief OH
