March 2019 will be highlighted by Festa Italiana, a month-long celebration of Italian history and culture. The series concludes on Monday, March 25 with “Ita-lycious”, a performance by vocalist Enzo Boscarino, origi-nally of Siracusa, Italy. Interlibrary Loan Service: The Basics Hamden Public Libraries are always striving to obtain

books and other materials that meet the diverse needs of

our clientele. And yet, there will always be some materi-

als our patrons would like to read or hear that we do not

own. This is where interlibrary loan (I.L.L.) comes into

play.

Many patrons make good use of our I.L.L service. Last

year we borrowed 1,973 items on behalf of our patrons

and loaned 1,447 items to other libraries. However, I’m

certain there are those who are unaware that they have

the ability to access materials fro other Connecticut and

out-of-state libraries.

Here are a few basics for those new to I.L.L.First, I.L.L.

services are free. Requests can be made in person, by

phone at 287-2680 or through our website at

www.hamdenlibrary.org. Second, they are only provided

by your hometown library. Hamden Public Libraries do

I.L.L. requests for Hamden residents only. Finally, music

cassettes and CDs and videocassettes and DVDs cannot be

borrowed through I.L.L.
