I want to personally thank you for being the contact person for your registered G.A.I.N. event. I had the opportunity to attend at least one G.A.I.N. event in each of our precincts and hopefully your event was attended by your precinct com- mander and/or one of your precinct lieutenants. As your Chief of Police, I am committed along with my management team to support community-based efforts that mobilize neighborhoods and help prevent crime in our City. It is through programs such as last Satur- day's G.A.I.N. events, Block Watch groups, Phoenix Neighborhood Patrol, and active neighborhood associations that help us make Phoenix one of the safest major cities in the country. Officer Deb Iodice, the citywide Block Watch Coordinator, and our pre- cinct Community Action Officers are here to assist with any concerns or questions you may have. A suspect had been hold- ing three people hostage inside a residence for several hours. One of the victims was success- ful in leaving the residence to dence. Two victims, one an 82- year-old woman, remained inside the home. Officers gave verbal orders for the suspect to stop; however, the suspect turned on the officers holding a revolver in his hand. On Saturday October 20 2012 the City of Phoenix had the opportunity

to have nearly 70 registered GAIN events with an anticipated attend-

ance of more than 13550 community members I want to personally

thank you for being the contact person for your registered GAIN event

I had the opportunity to attend at least one GAIN event in each of our

precincts and hopefully your event was attended by your precinct com-

mander andor one of your precinct lieutenants

As your Chief of Police I am committed along with my management team

to support community-based efforts that mobilize neighborhoods and

help prevent crime in our City It is through programs such as last Satur-

days GAIN events Block Watch groups Phoenix Neighborhood Patrol

and active neighborhood associations that help us make Phoenix one of

the safest major cities in the country
