Dear Rockford Fanatics,

It’s with great excitement that I present to you our 30th Anniversary Edition of Volume Magazine. Looking back over the last three decades, I am proud of our rich heritage and the brand, Rockford Fosgate.

Each of us at Rockford have been living the Fanatical audio lifestyle for many years. Our past has taught us many things; we have the best customers, we engineer and sell the best products and the Rockford team is second to none! These key ingredients will allow us to move into the future as a leader and innovator in this industry.

Our customers energize and sustain this brand. Rockford customers are different; they expect more and demand the absolute best. I travel all over the world and the message is consistent, “Your Brand is bad ass and you guys make the best stuff on the planet,” no higher compliment could be given. Rockford Fosgate products have been designed and engineered in Tempe, Arizona since the beginning. Our 30 year reputation is grounded in engineering and manufacturing the finest audio products in the world. Our no-compromise approach has yielded patented iconic products like the Punch EQ, Punch 45 amplifier and the 3Sixty integrated signal processor. Today, our new products push the performance envelope even further. Each new product is a step forward, they sound bigger, they play louder and run longer. Our commitment to YOU … we’ll never settle for “good enough.”

Our 2010 product line represents our core philosophy. Our new amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers have raised the bar on the competition. In addition, we are pleased to be entering the “personal audio” business. These products will allow you to take the Rockford Fosgate sound to new places!

Our 30 year history has been made possible by the passionate support of our customers. Without great customers, brands do not survive. Our commitment to you is to keep challenging ourselves and pushing this brand to higher and higher levels.

Every member of the Rockford team thanks you for your passionate and FANATICAL support!

WE CALL IT ROCKFORD. While our engineers are passionate about what they design and create, we have a special product validation team that just focuses on ensuring every Rockford Fosgate product is nothing short of perfect. In fact we have an entire process of stringent practices that MUST take place before a woofer, amp or loudspeaker even gets shipped from our Tempe, Arizona facility. We use a FARO arm with laser scanner to ensure our speakers are PERFECTLY round, a “Boom Room” that torture tests our woofers to the point of failure and every amplifier that we ship is burned-in no less than twenty-four hours.

Page 5: Volume 2010

EXPECT MORE.Rockford Fosgate believes that you should get the most out of our products every time you power up or plug in.

Our loudspeaker engineers have developed proprietary technology that packs MORE CONE AREA into a standard size loudspeaker than ever before. VAST (Vertical Area Surround Technology) achieves up to 25% more cone than our previous generation loudspeakers & certainly more than our nearest competitor. Rockford’s philosophy is you deserve MORE!

Many manufactures place a power number on a box because at some point their amplifier managed to squeak out that power number. Rockford Fosgate takes a totally different approach as to how we rate our amps.

In actuality our amplifiers exceed our box rated power numbers in many cases by 20% or more. So what does that mean for you? If we rate an amplifier at 1000 watts we know it will do it and keep performing over and over again. Bottom line, there is NO BS here . . . In a sea of amplifiers claiming max this & rms that, when you buy a Rockford Fosgate amp you can have the confidence that it’s going to do EXACTLY what we said it will.

While many of you might recognize Josh Grant in full motocross gear, what you might not know about this world class supercross/motocross rider is he’s a passionate Rockford Fosgate car audio enthusiast.

We caught up with him at his pad in So Cal for a little one-on-one about his world of fast dirt bikes, high flying jumps and of course his tricked out Rockford Fosgate system.

RF: So Josh, can you give us a little info as to who you are and what you do?JG: No problem, my name is Josh Grant, I’m a professional Supercross/Motocross Racer. Currently I race for the Muscle Milk/Toyota /Joe Gibbs Racing Team. I’m known for my competitiveness, big whips and west coast style.RF: Looks like you’ve got yourself some serious trophies, what are some of your career highlights so far?

JG: My dad got me on a bike when I was old enough to get my leg over

the seat; I’ve basically grown up on a dirt bike. You know you’ll never

forget your first time… so I guess my first win at Anaheim 1 this past

January has to be the one that sticks out the most for me. I have also

won two outdoor MX events at Mt. Morris in 2006 and this past year

at Red Bud on July 4th as well as winning the 2006 SX Lites race in

Atlanta that had the largest crowd to ever witness a SX race. Big props

to my team if it wasn’t for them it would be impossible to make the

podium.

RF: Josh – you’ve got a seriously impressive Rockford system here.

Can you tell me a bit about it?

JG: Well, 2 months and $30k later I have a bad-ass system! It was well

worth the wait. It has four Rockford 15’s in a custom tuned box and

is backed up by the top-of-the line Power Series amps. Power series

components in all the doors, 3Sixty tuning, Kinetik batteries, you know

the works.

RF: How’d you get into car audio?

JG: I’ve always wanted a bumpin’ system, like I said music is a big

part of my day and how I get pumped up for race day. Working with

you guys at Rockford gave me the opportunity to design exactly what

I wanted in a system, lots of bass – that custom look and of course be

able to give a little “what’s up” to the car next to me.

RF: What type of tracks are you bumping in this ride?

JG: My favorite artist is Lil Wayne, but I like all sorts of music. Really

just depends on the mood I’m in and sometimes what my crew wants

to listen to. I can promise you one thing, whatever I’m playing it’s

banging!

RF: So Josh if you could say one thing to those aspiring “car audio

enthusiasts” that are going to read this year’s Volume magazine what

would it be.JG: Keep it real, go big and find your unique style. That’s how I’ve

made my career in racing and that’s how I live it every day.

Rockford Fosgate’s new interactive processor is more than

an OEM interface. With six channels, a 31-band EQ for each

channel, very flexible crossover control with adjustable levels

for each channel, remote subwoofer level control, auxiliary

inputs with their own 31-band EQ, signal delay and complete

control by a wireless Bluetooth interface, it would also be right

at home in a full-on aftermarket system as a powerful signal

processor. Tweaks and audio nuts will love the control and

flexibility the unit offers.

The 3Sixty.2 itself is a relatively diminutive piece of gear,

measuring about 7.25” by 4.25” by about 1.75” tall. It comes

with a wired remote control knob and setup CD. The heavy-

gauge sheet metal case has plastic end panels and a small

plastic window that changes color depending on what you

are doing. It looks solidly constructed and is finished in a

gloss gray color powder-coat. There are gain pots and blue/

red LEDs on the input panel to serve as signal and clip

indicators, making adjustments easy while eliminating the

need for voltmeters.

A quick read through the owner’s manual told me that

to use the product I would have to install the included

software onto my Bluetooth

capable device. This was a

surprise, but with Palm and laptop devices becoming

very affordable, and common, I soon understood the

logic behind the design.

I installed the software to my trusty old Tungsten

T2 with no problem and proceeded to hook the

hardware up on my test bench. The wiring is very

straightforward; the 3Sixty.2 will accept either

high-level BTL outputs (Bridged Tied Load, i.e.,

standard speaker-level outputs) from an OEM radio

or amplifier, or RCA inputs from an aftermarket

style source unit. In both cases, there are six inputs:

for left and right, front and rear, as well as center

and subwoofer channels. There is also a pair of

AUX input RCAs for the connection of an additional

audio source. The outputs of the 3Sixty.2 use the

same 6-channel configuration and are RCA-style

connections.

The wired remote plugs into a “Comm Port” and

uses a common RJ45-style connector. The remote

serves two functions: In one mode it acts as a remote

subwoofer level control and in the second mode,

it becomes a volume control for the device that is

connected to the AUX input. Clever, and cool.

If you have an OEM radio, you use the “OEM” setup;

if you have an aftermarket system and will use the

3Sixty.2 for processing only, you enter “New Setup.”

Since most of the processing is the same after an

OEM setup, I’ll describe that functionality. To simulate

an installation in an OEM-radio-equipped vehicle, I

used one of the OEM radios lying around my lab and

measured the frequency response. As you can see

by the blue line on the graph, it shows how much

EQ is “built in” to the OEM equipment.

When you enter the OEM setup, the screen

changes and explains that the setup procedure

will calibrate your unit to the OEM system. It

then instructs you to insert the included setup

CD into the car’s source unit, play track one, set

the volume to the maximum undistorted setting and

make sure the balance, fader and tone controls are

Page 13: Volume 2010

ROCKFORD FOSGATE 2010 BUYER’S GUIDE 12

set to center and zero respectively. Each screen is much

like a Windows prompt, with a “Back” and “Next” button.

As you complete the easy to follow steps, the 3Sixty.2 will

prompt you to proceed. It then instructs you to go to track

two and asks if you would like it to sum any channels that

it finds that are not full range. This ability to automatically

sum channels is one of the things that make the 3Sixty

different from most of the other interfaces on the market.

With the controls on the radio set as instructed, you are

prompted to adjust the gain controls until the red clip

LED barely illuminates, or just flashes red. A blue LED

indicates the presence of signal.

The unit asks you which channels are connected and

begins an examination of the audio on each of the input

channels (when using an aftermarket source unit; OEM

integration automates the entire process), determining

the frequency response and, if requested, the channels

to sum together for a full range signal. Then it can, if

you choose, automatically re-equalize in reference to

the OEM radio in an attempt to flatten any built-in EQ

curve as much as possible. When complete, it shows

you a graphical representation of the “before” and

“after” response curves on the screen. I found this

step to take several minutes.

The “Tuning” screen allows a wide range of control

and functionality to be accessed, and you can do

it wirelessly from the driver’s seat! I would have

given my eyeteeth for this kind of tuning capability

back in my car audio competition days. You can

tune each channel individually or as a stereo

pair. You can choose to mute any or all channels

individually to assist in tuning. You can also

adjust the overall level of each of the six channels

individually or as stereo pairs.

The list of signal processing features is extensive

and shows someone understood what kind of

control and flexibility is needed to tune a vehicle.

The “Tune System” mode includes controls

for the following adjustments:*Crossover

settings, Highpass/Lowpass/Bandpass or All

Pass, from 50Hz to 10kHz at -12 or -24dB/

octave slopes (individual channels or linked

stereo pairs)*Output level controls for each

channel that can also be linked in pairs*31-

band EQ for front L & R and 27-band EQ

for rear L & R & center, with +/-10dB of

adjustment*Separate 10-band EQ for the

subwoofer output*Infrasonic filter for the

subwoofer output*Delay for each full range channel, marked in

distance increments for easier soundstage tuning, to a maximum

delay of 5’.

With all the adjustments possible, the 3Sixty.2 makes fine tuning

your car simple and easy. Files with particular settings may be

saved, or even shared with others via the Internet. You can make

individual sound quality files for different types of listening material

or for different soundstage effects in your vehicle.

I think the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2 Interactive Signal Processor

is one of those products that will be a trendsetter. The name hints

at its multi-use functionality, but as I discovered, it couldn’t begin

to describe the power and flexibility the 3Sixty.2 offers.

ROCKFORD FOSGATE 2010 BUYER’S GUIDE 14

LATIN AMERICA is a hot bed of ROCKFORD FOSGATE Fanatics. The unique Latin culture breeds passionate enthusiasts with an eye for design and craving for authentic Rockford Fosgate sound.

From high in the Colombian Andes Mountains, JOSE MIGUEL TORRES embodies the characteristics of a pure Rockford Fosgate fanatic. A member of TEAM JMT PERFORMANCE, Jose has been passionate about high-performance car audio since 1994.

Galois Mendoza, owner of a Chevrolet Captiva 2008, recruited Jose Miguel to build the ultimate audio demo vehicle. Galois wanted a vehicle that could be both a daily driver and be used as a showpiece with complete DJ console. Mendoza flipped Jose the keys and FULL creative control, not to mention an open check book. The result is a vehicle that combines the passion of both of these fanatics for Rockford Fosgate products with the unique capabilities of a mobile DJ platform.

So what gear did Jose use to bring this rolling audio experience to life? This 5.1 system is all Rockford, 3Sixty.2 DSP processor, (1) T2500-1bd Power amplifier for the Subs, (2) T600-4 for front and rear channels, (1) T400-2 for the center channel, (4) T115D2 subwoofers, (16) T162s Power component sets for front and rear channels and (4) T152s as center channels. Not one to miss out on the “audio jewelry” all RCA, power cables, fuse holders and battery clamps are of course Rockford Fosgate.

Jose and crew at JMT Performance is already working on his next project, a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe. We anxiously await its unveiling at the Colombia finals November 2010 in Bogota.

HOWTOCHOOSE/PREPARE/CONNECT A PROPER GROUND

Tools/Products Needed: Rockford Fosgate AWG Wire, Rockford crimp ring terminal(i.e. RFTS1), Non-Anodized bolt w/ compatible fender washers, lock washer with nut, sandpaper or alternative tool to remove paint from the metal surface.

• Poorly crimped• Metal surface has only been sanded down to the primer and not to bare metal• A screw is not the preferred mounting method

• Poorly crimped and stray wire strands• Metal surface area is improperly prepped• Regardless of how many you use, drywall screws do not work

• Really?

Tip: It is recommended to ground the source unit at the same location as your amplifier/s and other audio equipment to eliminate any possible ground loops. This is typically the first step in trouble shooting engine noise.

The prior “big three” HOW TO article (see youtube.com) outlined the upgrade of your vehicle’s main current carrying wires. That upgrade combined with this HOW TO article on proper grounding techniques will reduce noise, ensure the best possible current flow, and maximize the performance of your Rockford Fosgate audio system.

Begin by preparing the grounding cable. Strip 5/8” of insulation from the end of the wire, then securely crimp the compatible size ring terminal to the end.

Prepare the chassis ground by scraping ALL paint/primer from the metal surface and thoroughly clean the area of any dirt and grease. Be sure to have adequate surface area for the entire ring terminal to make contact to bare metal.

Location: The majority of vehicles on the road are a combination of metals, spot welds, glued together unibody panels and isolated chassis components. So choose a location that consists of a substantial mass of solid metal.

Contrary to popular belief factory bolts are NOT a good ground location (i.e. seat bolt). The majority of factory bolts attach to a nut that is typically tack welded in place and are designed to hold something in place. This method DOES NOT provide ample current transfer.

Complete your ground by securing the ground cable to the chassis ground. Bolting the ground ensures you will have maximum contact.

A proper ground is: • Clean of residue and paint • Equal ground wire gauge as compared to the power wire gauge • Has a resistance return of 00.5 Ω or less • SECURE!

You can verify the quality of the ground by checking the resistance in ohms using a digital multi meter (DMM). Set your DMM to Ω, then place one probe on the ground you have created and the other on the factory battery ground. Remember resistance cannot be measured accurately on a live circuit.

W hen we launched the What’s Your Volume contest this past year, we had no idea who or what type of videos we’d get. With our fingers crossed we carefully uploaded our YouTube.com

introductory video, and the What’s Your Volume Contest was born. As the entries started to roll in, we took special note of a confident young woman talking about a Rockford Fosgate system in an RX-7. At first we said, “Is this girl for real?” but after thousands of votes, Karissa Hosek, from Victoria, TX not only captured the $5000 sponsorship and secured her spot in VOLUME magazine, but impressed the world with her dedication to performance car audio and the Rockford Fosgate brand.

Rockford Fosgate is nothing new to Karissa. “I’ve grown up with Rockford Fosgate,” smiles Karissa as she starts to show us her latest retro-fit with all of her new Rockford Fosgate gear.

Karissa Hosek

ROCKFORD FOSGATE 2010 BUYER’S GUIDE 18

Karissa is part of a long line of car audio enthusiasts and installers, third generation to be exact. Hi-Pro Audio was started by her Uncle David Rother and carried on in his memory by her grandfather, who continued the business in Victoria, TX. Today Hi-Pro is managed by her father Henry and she works side-by-side with her older brother Justin.

“I’ve been working at Hi-Pro since I was born, but have been selling and installing for about four years now,” explains Karissa.

“I wanted my RX-7 not only to be loud, but look razor sharp. We used an extensive amount of carbon fiber on the box so it would match my carbon fiber hood,” Karissa points out. “The interior of the RX-7 is pretty tight so we had to get creative on how we mounted all of the audio gear. We’ve got components in every nook and cranny, 3Sixty.2 in storage panels, a Rockford 10F cap in the other, and we even stashed a T400-2 & Rockford 10F cap in a trim panel complete with cooling vents and custom mounts.”

So what new equipment did Karissa spec out with her Rockford Fosgate sponsorship? Up front she chose the new T2 6.5” components (T2652-S) and a pair of the new T1 6.5” coax (T1652). Powering up the highs is a T400-2. While Karissa’s RX-7 interior is tight, she’s one power hungry fanatic so why not power each of the PUNCH P3 12” woofers with their own T500-1bdCP! These woofers get it done, especially reflecting off the glass of the Mazda’s hatch. Karissa’s wish list also included a pair of T112D4 woofers. (While not available at the time of this photo shoot, Karissa’s RX-7 update plan includes two T112D4 to add even more PUNCH to her ride.) System tuning is handled by Rockford’s 3Sixty.2 and of course Karissa used all Rockford spec cable and accessories to complete the custom installation.

What does the future hold for Karissa? “I really enjoy photography and have a passion for cars; I’d like to focus these into a career as an automotive photographer.” Karissa is extremely talented and creative; we saw this in everything she showed us while visiting with her on-location in Texas.

Our time with Karissa at her shop in Victoria, TX was one of the most authentic Rockford Fosgate fanatic experiences to date. We look forward to seeing more audio installations from Karissa and want to officially congratulate her on wining the What’s Your Volume Contest!

HOWTOIDENTIFYING HARNESS WIRES IN A FACTORY RADIO

Tools Needed: Multimeter, Test Lead Kit, Tone/Pulse Generator, Polarity Tester

Tip: Some vehicles come equipped with a factory installed amplifier. In this case the same wire identifying procedures can be used at the amplifier’s wiring harness as well.

*Aftermarket wire colors are typical.

Note your findings in the OEM column below

Identifying the wires in a factory radio harness is an important part for proper installation of any of the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty OEM integration products, whether it is power/signal for a signal processor (3Sixty.1/3Sixty.2), line driver (RF-BLD) or power for the iPod charger in one of the Rockford Fosgate integration for iPod products. Following this tutorial will ensure correct wire identification.

Begin by removing the factory installed radio. Vehicle specific how-to information can commonly be found on 12volt/car audio forums and vehicle specific forums. (i.e. www.the12volt.com, www.vwvortex.com)

12V Constant (battery): First, verify the vehicle ignition switch is in the OFF position. Then you will need to change the setting on the multimeter to direct current(DC) voltage(V). Now place the common probe (typically black) from the multimeter to a vehicle ground. *We used alligator clips to hold the common probe to ground. This leaves a hand free to manipulate the harness. Your setup is now complete. Continue by testing each wire in the harness with the multimeter’s positive probe (typically red), noting your findings. *Typically you will only find one wire that reads 12.00VDC on the meter.

12V Switched (ignition): Maintain your multimeter settings from the previous step, DC Voltage and common probe to ground. However, you will now need to change the vehicle ignition switch to the accessory (ACC) position. Proceed by testing each wire in the harness with the positive probe, noting your findings. *Typically you will only find one wire that reads 12.00VDC on the meter with the vehicle ignition in the accessory and run positions, besides the wire you noted above.

Ground: Start by turning the vehicle ignition switch back to the OFF position. You will also need to change the setting on the multimeter to continuity, leaving the common probe connected to the vehicle probe as described in the previous test. Now test each wire in the harness with the positive probe, noting your findings. *The multimeter will typically indicate continuity with an audible tone. Some illumination/dimmer wires can read ground; this can be verified by turning on the headlights which will break the ground.

Speakers: Begin by verifying the vehicle ignition is still in the OFF position. You can now disconnect the multimeter’s common probe from ground. Continue by changing the setting on the multimeter to impedance(Ω). Now place the common probe on one of the harness wires, and then test each of the remaining wires with the positive probes, noting your findings. Repeat this test by moving the common probe until all combinations have been tested. *Impedance readings on original equipment manufacturer(OEM) speakers can read from 01.0-08.0Ω; however a typical reading is 04.0Ω.

4 5

6

Search:Rockford Fosgate RTTI

Polarity: Once you have located your speaker wire pairs you will still need to determine the correct polarity of each set. This can easily and safely be done by using a tone/pulse generator coupled with a polarity tester. *If these additional tools are not available to you, this can also be done with a 9V battery and visually identifying what direction the cone travels. If the speaker’s polarity is correct it will move outwards. CAUTION: Using this method can damage the speakers or if the battery current is connected to incorrect harness wires, this can result in damage to other vehicle components.

A uthentic, hard core and passionate the traits that embody a true

Rockford Fanatic. Born and raised in the city of Angles, Mister Cartoon is best known for

his intricate art that has been inscribed on the bodies of Eminem, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Cypress Hill,

Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Kayne West just to name a few. Having earned his nickname through his

drawing abilities and personality, Mr. Cartoon was introduced to design through his rudimentary career as a

graffiti artist in the 80’s. What many people don’t know about this worldwide tattoo artist is his passion for

custom vehicles and Rockford Fosgate audio. Mister Cartoon welcomed the Rockford crew to his Los Angeles compound for an exclusive look at his

private tattoo studio, art studio and exclusive collection of custom restored vehicles.

A close member of the Rockford Fosgate family, Mister Cartoon has taken his gift of art and applied it to his

roots. “I started going to car shows when I was 16, I made a decision then that I wanted

Page 24: Volume 2010

to do murals on low riders so around 19 years old I started painting

low riders. It wasn’t until over the last 5 years that I have had a shop

open, that builds cars from the frame up. I think the competition keeps

me passionate and seeing something manifest from just a thought

drives me even more,” explains Mister Cartoon.

Mister Cartoon’s personal vehicles embody many influences and

range from full custom low riders to a rolling audio lab on wheels

appropriately named, The Ice Cream Truck.

“I like Rockford Fosgate they make dependable amps and woofers, I

run my systems hard and I love a company that backs their product

up. Rockford Fosgate is focused on quality and dependability and

that’s what keeps me running Rockford,” smiles Mister Cartoon.

His blend of old school graffiti, fine line tattooing and street culture

can be seen in everything Mister Cartoon does. A real success story

from skid row, Mister Cartoon offers this advice to his fellow Rockford

enthusiasts. “Be creative with your trunk space and integrate kick

panels. Draw the systems out prior to building and just be creative

with your thoughts and execution.

Once in a lifetime a story about a Rockford Fanatic not only stirs passion for the audio lifestyle but has the ability to inspire the lives of so

many people. Without question the story of this award winning 2007 Cadillac Escalade is it. The vision of Brad Fowler, this is more than just another custom truck but a celebration of life, a passion for cars and love for audio. Tragically, Brad was unable to see his vision become a reality, his vibrant and giving life cut short. It was decided by the family to finish the Escalade and Jessica, Brad’s sister would complete Brad’s dream of putting it in the Ocean City, MD car/truck show in June 2008.

The Fowler family gave us unrestricted access to Brad’s dream vehicle and the opportunity to share Brad’s story with the world.

Brad started the project in early 2007. Low & slow, Brad’s vision took over five months just to plan before he found just the right mix of components and a custom fabricator for his Escalade project.

“His dream was to have the best show car in Calvert County, Brad knew exactly what he wanted, which was the loudest audio system, lots of TVs, video, airbags and custom rims,” says his Mom, Brenda.

A Rockford Fanatic, Brad knew the only equipment for his dream truck was Rockford Fosgate.

This custom Escalade is full tilt Rockford. Filling the custom tuned rear box are eight P3D212 Punch Subs, powered by six T1000-1bd Power Amplifiers. All four doors carry two sets of T162-S Power components each, with another set of T162-S Power components placed in the center console as well as rear mounted set in the cargo hatch. The mids and highs are driven by two T600-4 Power amplifiers. To keep things balanced and tuned a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty signal processor is employed, the DSP adding realism to the XBOX360, Playstation 3 & ten video monitors.

“When Brad would get something new he’d tweak, fine tune & play – spending hours on every detail in the garage. He was extremely passionate about audio & video,” laughs Duce, Brad’s friend.

An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Brad turned to the Texas based guys at Ekstensive Metalworks, featured in Volume 1.0, to do the highly detailed fabrication to turn the Escalade into a serious show truck. Ekstensive fitted custom upper and lower control arms, firestone airbags, notched the firewall, fender wells and floorboards. Even the factory fuel tank was replaced with a custom fuel cell to accommodate the extreme drop. “The complete build took over a year to complete and became a very personal build for us because of the circumstances,” says Mitch Ralls of Ekstensive Metalworks.

While Brad never got to see his creation finished his compassion to others was evident as those involved with the project focused in on the one event Brad dreamed of attending with his custom Escalade. “Thoughtfulness and generosity is what made Brad so special. He didn’t have just one best friend, all his friends

were best friends,” smiles Brenda, Brad’s Mom. Brad’s passion for vehicles, football and Rockford Fosgate audio translated into everything and everyone he interacted with.

Jessica, along with Brad’s friends, worked with Ektensive to get the Escalade done just like Brad wanted. The Texans with Ektensive personally delivered the truck to the Fowler residence.

“It was a very emotional day to watch the Escalade being unloaded from the trailer,” remembers Brenda Fowler.

Brad’s 2007 custom Escalade did make the grade at the Ocean City Car & Truck Show in Maryland in 2008. In fact it took the coveted Mayor’s Award at this show. Since then his sister, Jessica and friend Duce have won every show they’ve entered with Brad’s Escalade.

With a smooth beat, a gentle drop of the suspension, we honor Brad Fowler, Rockford Fanatic, and know his legacy will live on forever.

HOWTOBUILD A HIGH-OUTPUTSUBWOOFER ENCLOSURE

Supplies: Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)Wood Glue, Box Carpet, Contact Adhesive, Nails or Screws

Build the port first. The end of the port should be rounded over on both sides to reduce air turbulence. Use wood glue and nails to attach the 2 parts of the port together. Paint the inside of the port for that clean look.

Dry fit the parts of the enclosure first before applying glue or nails. Label your parts so you know where they go. (e.g. baffle, top, sides, port, etc.) Apply wood glue to all the joints and secure them with nails or screws.

Find the location in the center of the baffle where the woofer will be mounted. Mark this location and drill a 1/8 inch hole. Use the RTTI woofer hole cutting jig to cut the exact hole for the woofer. Use a router with a flush trim bit to cut the opening for the port.

Apply the contact adhesive on the enclosure and the box carpet. Allow the adhesive to dry for 2-3 minutes before adhering the box and carpet together. Trim off the excess carpet, and cut out the openings for the woofer and port.

Here is the completed enclosure wired with 12 gauge Rockford Fosgate speaker wire. Check out rockfordfosgate.com/rftech for the Woofer BoxWizard, Woofer BoxAdvisor, WiringWizard, and other cool tech stuff.

Tools Needed: Table Saw, Drill, Router, Nail Gun, Measuring Tape, Calculator

A high-output subwoofer enclosure is an enclosure design with a built-in slot style port that is calculated for maximum bass. These examples have been designed by the experts at RTTI using the latest enclosure design software. They are then built and tested in many different vehicles to ensure maximum performance in all applications.

Search:Rockford Fosgate RTTI

Select the size and type of subwoofer. The actual dimensions for the enclosure can be modified as long as the internal volume and port are equal to the RTTI specified enclosure.

Use a table saw to cut the enclosure parts to the desired sizes. Be sure to leave the safety features of your power tools in place. Measure twice and cut once.

Under-Seat Mount

THE ULTIMATE VEHICLE SPECIFIC BASS SOLUTION• No enclosure needed… just plug and play• Measures only H 2” x W 4.25” x L 6.875”• Mounts in any position and can be completely

hidden/covered• Can be used with or without a traditional

subwoofer• (Patent #7,402,922)

HOW DOES IT WORK?• Accurately and efficiently energizes the

listener’s auditory cortex without pressurizing surrounding air

• Transmits information via bone harmonics, skin galvanic (electrical properties of skin) and other direct stimulus routes

LOCALIZED BASS • When attached to a resonant surface, it will be

‘felt’ by only the listener in comparison to the sound produced by subwoofers and ordinary speakers

• An optimum sound quality level is often reached when you can just feel rather than hear the bass

• Reduced “noise pollution”

MULTIPLE INSTALLATION OPPORTUNITIES • Home theater• Gaming• Simulators• Amusement parks• Studios• Hearing impaired• Rear seat entertainment• Bass augmentation to existing automotive and

home systems

“BUTT SHAKERS” VS IBEAM• Butt shakers provide a narrow band of low

frequency vibration which the brain translates as “shaking”, whereas the IBEAM delivers a broad band of deep bass output that the human brain can recognize
