HTGOC Monthly Youth UpdateDecember 2017

Note from Dr. Susan Sunday school is well underway. We

appreciate the parents bringing their

children to class every Sunday. It is a joy

for the teachers to share our knowledge

of our faith with our youth. Each week

the students learn more about the love

of God and enjoy fellowship with their

classmates.

We will start practicing Christmas Carols in English during snack time after Holy Communion and in class. Our hope is that our students will be able to sing the songs together with the parishioners during the pageant.

Greek School & OXI Day

Our pageant dress rehearsal will be Saturday, December 16th in the Community Center from 10:00a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Pizza will be available after practice. The Christmas Pageant is scheduled for Sunday, December 17th in the Community Center after Divine Liturgy. Chairs will be set up auditorium style in front of the "stage”. Brunch will be served and Santa will visit the children.

Adult Study News!

This year’s Adult Study has been taught by both Father Larry and David.

The classes will be split into 9 week sessions. The first 9 week sessions

are ending on the 13th of December. Beginning on the 20th we will switch

the teaching times. On the 20th David will teach on the Ecumenical

Councils in the morning and Father will teach on Revelations in the

evening.

ADDITIONAL GREEK LANGUAGE OPPORTUNITY

We are pleased to report that an Adult Greek School class will be offered in the spring of 2018

during Tuesday evening, a repeat of this spring’s offering. This mini course entitled

“Conversational Greek 201” will be a 12-week course focusing on conversational skills about

everyday life activities such as “Greetings & Introductions”, “At a restaurant”, “Going shopping”

and other. The focus will be on speaking to communicate with others (interpersonal) with themes

relevant to visiting Greece. Grammar will not be taught explicitly, but instead as appropriate to

communicate accuracy. No prior knowledge of Greek is required but is welcomed if previously

acquired. The class will be taught by Basil Apostolou, former Greek School teacher and director.

Such class will be free to any Holy Trinity current steward over 21 years of age; for all others a

$100 fee payable to our church will be charged. Registration will begin in January 2018. If you
