ORDINATION SERVICE

On May 21, 2017, the Trent River

Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist

Church Association held the Ordination Service for Minister Danny

Hester Jr. The Chorus Choir from Marshall Chapel Missionary Baptist

Church sung beautifully. Moderator Preston L. Harris preached the sermon.

Afterwards, Moderator Harris provided

a charge to Minister Hester and his wife Melody. Finally, Reverend Danny

Hester Jr. made remarks to all in attendance. Reverend Hester has been

guided by Pastor William C. Jones while serving as his Associate Minister

at Marshall Chapel. Reverend Hester’s

children Damarius, Dominik, DaMontre and grandmother Ceawillie

Hester who plays a major role in his life were also in attendance.

On June 19-23, 2017, over 134 of our youth and adults came together for Vacation Bible School. This year’s theme was “Celebrating Jesus”. Adults, youth and volunteers had a wonderful time worshipping God and enjoying one another through songs, crafts, Bible stories and group discussions. It was a great experience for everyone in attendance making the Gospel come alive.

The Back Pack Buddies program feeds 25 hungry students every week of the school year. Marshall Chapel Missionary Baptist Church supports Morton Elementary School. Five years ago, Morton Elementary School asked the church to help feed hungry children and the church responded. At the beginning of the year, the school chooses the students and they are anonymous to the church. Your monetary donations should be given to your

Auxiliary President before the fourth Sunday of each month. Subsequently, they will turn the funds into Sister Marina Williams on the first Sunday of each month. If you do not belong to an Auxiliary, please make your donation directly to Sister Marina Williams before the first Sunday of each month. Every Auxiliary is asked to participate. Without every Auxiliary’s participation, it is difficult to meet our weekly obligation. If you are in more than one Auxiliary, please chose one Auxiliary and contribute to that Auxiliary. Sister Tikishia Smiley shops, prepares and delivers the bags each week to the school. It is a labor of love. The first delivery will be made on Friday, October 6, 2017. Therefore, your first donations should be made during the month of September. If you would like to contribute please donate $5.00 weekly for nine months or $45.00 annually. This year we have also partnered with Panera Bread who provides bread and pastries. Thank you for your Support of Marshall Chapel’s Backpack Buddies Program.

During the school year a large number of children in the United States receive free and reduced-lunches through their school lunch programs. However, when the school year ends food insecurity becomes prevalent amongst school-aged children. The Summer Food Service Program helps alleviate the nutritional gap and makes meals accessible to all children less than 18 years of age at no cost. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Sites are places in the community where children receive meals in a safe and supervised environment.

Meals will be served July 5, 2017 - August 3, 2017, Monday through Thursday from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the following sites:

• Bell Fork Elementary • Hunters Creek Elementary • Jacksonville Commons Elementary • Richlands Primary • Southwest Elementary • Summersill Elementary
