THE CYGNUS
GAZETTE
Dear Parents,
The Academic year 2016-17 is coming to an end with a „WOW‟ feeling amongst us. This year was an exciting and promising one, filled with new challenges and new
learning. We believe in … “One common campus One Common purpose, One Common Goal – OUR STUDENT SUCCESS!”
We, both teachers and you as parents shared the responsibility of giving our best to our child everyday. Working as partners, we ensured our student‟s success. As children mature physically and mentally, they are increasingly responsible for making healthy choices for themselves. Independent choice is one of the responsibilities of growing up children. Our
responsibility as a school and as a parent is to provide children with the knowledge and guidance needed to make healthy independent choices in eating healthy and nutritionally friendly foods, maintaining physically active life style and overall wellness. When we talk about physically active lifestyle, we mean encouraging PLAY in children particularly in this age of media intrusion. As adults we seem to have forgotten how to play! It does not come to us naturally. We no longer acknowledge that the two – Work and play could blend with each other. So much so, we play in order to achieve a goal, either for exercise or to win or to earn money. Play has a tremendous therapeutic value. It allows us to get out of our roles and not be judged. Playing takes us away from the hectic routine existence and problems. So what are we waiting for? Begin today if not already in it.
Spend the forthcoming summer vacation meaningfully with your young children. Include plenty of play time with them. Who else can be better Positive Role Model than you to Your Children? In the end note, I like to Quote
“There are little eyes upon you and they‟re watching night and day. There are little ears that quickly take in every word you say. There are little hands all eager to do everything you do. And a little child Who‟s dreaming of the day he‟ll/she‟ll be like you.” Bhavani Raguraman Director

“If you hear a voice within you say you cannot
paint then by all means paint, and that voice
will be silent.”
~Vincent Van Gogh
With this quote resonating in our hearts
Cygnus World School embarked on a journey
to hone the latent creative abilities in each
budding artist. From emulating icons in the field of art like Picasso and Van Gogh on can-
vas to charcoal sketches of myriad human
expressions, the event stood as a platform for
young minds to transcend the boundaries of
their inherent aesthetic potential.
The Art Exhibition was inaugurated on 6th
Feb‟17 and was based on the bright hues of
colours for Grade I to IV, while Grade V to XI

Experiential Learning . Being hands-on is es-
pecially important in the classroom because it allows students to engage in kinesthetic learn-
ing. At Cygnus World School students are al-
lowed to experiment through trial and error,
learn from their mistakes and understand the
potential gaps between theory and practice.

three schools of Abu Dhabi, Doha and Argentina. This was our school‟s first step towards promoting of globalization and contributing
towards global peace. The students of Grade VIII collaborated with „The Belgrano School, Argentina‟. Students of both the schools prepared cards and Flash cards based on the festivals celebrated in their respective countries. Students of Grade III interacted with the students of DPS,Doha about
their culture and performing arts. Grade IX students collaborated with Abu Dhabi Indian School, Branch 1, Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi. Students prepared tourist guides on the historical monuments of their cities and exchanged them with
collaborating school. A Skype session was organized wherein students of both the countries
exchanged ideas and information.
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION
„I took a walk in the woods and
came out taller than the trees‟
When adults reminisce about
their school days, chances are
their thoughts will go back to
an outdoor trip taken from
school. Many say travel is edu-cation. Outbound trips bring
even this aspect of education
under the Cygnus umbrella.
During this academic year
Grade I to III had a day trip to
Adventure Parks – Ravines, CASA Paradise, Orsang Resort.
Grades IV to XI went on 3-4 day
trips to Little Rann of Kachchh,
Bhavani Retreat, Udaipur,
Mount Abu, Mithapur & Jam-bughoda. Taking students into
a new environment gives them
the experience of traveling in a
group and provides them with
more information and insights
into the places they visit.

STUDENT CORNER DEAR FRIEND
This ones for my friend,
Whose friendship will never end.
For all the mistakes we made,
Our friendship will neverr fade.
I am there to help you day and night,
To forget our previous fight.
I took your band out of your hair,
But returned it with great care.
Once we went out to walk,
And wouldn‟t decide what to talk.
We started with a funny thing,
Started singing hotline bling.
Today when it‟s time to say goodbye,
I think I will now cry.

The Magic of The Moon
When the blazing sun sets,
And the inky sky emerges... Comes something so enticing and bright,
It fills your heart with delight!
The moon is so big and beautiful,
And special in its own way…
It brightens up the darkened sky, Just for me, everyday!
When I walk through the meadows,
Your light showers upon me…
And then you clear the path, To my destiny!
You were the one, who gave me hope,
You were the one who lit up my world…
Years have passed and now I‟m old,
But you still shine like there is no change in time!

Moxit:- How would you describe yourself?
Moxit:-What was your favourite subject at school and why?
Moxit:- Who or what made you choose teaching as your career?
Moxit:- In your opinion what makes a great teacher?
Educators Opinion Sangeeta Chaudhuri:- “Poverty” is one of the major challenges which India is facing in the present world of globaliza-
tion. Major steps must be taken to tackle this grave situation. Shweta Surve:-India is facing several problems just like any other nation. As I perceive most problems are relating to
poverty and inequality. I believe this problem is solvable and we must take it as a challenge to resolve it.
Parents Opinion Mrs. Bhavna Devi: In my view one of the non-measurable challenges that our country faces today is the loss of our heritage, culture and sensitivity towards the environment that we live in. While we are all going global, there is a growing need for us to hold on to our ground firmly, with our roots intact.
Mrs.Rashika Chauhan: While each country faces its own difficulties and tribulations the primary challenge facing India is Corruption. Corruption has penetrated deep in our roots. I truly believe that the time has come to step out of our comfort zone and give India an opportunity. Each of us must make a positive attempt to stop corruption, bribery at its
root, pay our taxes and assist the people who can help us to make a positive change.
Students Opinion Darshan Patel XI-A :-The Biggest Challenge of India is that the citizens don‟t try to change their mindset. They think
that nothing will happen and so why bother to make any effort at all. Abhiraj Dhodapak-XI-A :- The biggest challenge facing India today is unemployment and lack of skill development. In next 20 years, over 10 crore Indians are going to move out of agriculture. With the growing economy, there will be a de-
mand for skilled manpower. There is therefore a need for a national level programme for skill development .
The BIG Question ???
What is the biggest challenge facing India?
Getting to Know My Teacher Ms. Pooja
Pooja Ma‟am:- My ardent love for children was apparent to my entire family. My dear grandfather encouraged me and has been the inspiration and guide behind me taking up teaching as a profession.
Pooja Ma‟am:- I would like to describe myself as Proactive, Passionate, Persistent, Positive, Playful, Pooja.
Pooja Ma‟am:-Environmental Science and Economics were my favourite subjects. They appealed to me as I love creativity and organising data.
Pooja Ma‟am:- Success for me is when my students inculcate values, become good human beings and achieve success
and happiness in their life.
Moxit:-What advice would you like to give to your students?
Moxit:- As a teacher, how would you define success?
Pooja Ma‟am:- Firstly a great teacher must be organized and systematic. Other “must have” qualities are
proactiveness, enthusiasm and a never give up attitude.
Pooja Ma‟am:- My piece of advice is, “ Technology is the way for tomorrow. Be well versed with it. Use it to make a
positive difference to the world. Spread the message of love and kindness.”
“Be a student as long as you still have something to learn, and this will mean all your life.”
