1 Ive got a feeling, everything is going to be all rightPeace and power to all of you as we enjoy this season of thankfulness. God has brought us through a very challenging year. We have experienced, trauma and drama. We have seen a year filled with senseless killings and disrespect for mankind. We have been blessed to reach this point of the year. If you are here now, give praise to God for his grace toward us. This month will also be an equally busy month. We will celebrate with our Missionary Department for their annual day. The Missionary Department is the largest ministry of our church, as it should be. If a person truly wants to grow spiritually, this is a ministry where fruitfulness is possible. Persons get to serve others, and be a blessing at the same time. Also in the month, we will observe the service of our veterans. Men and women who served this na- tion through our armed services. Let me take this time and say to all of us, thank you for your service, and your willingness to make a difference on behalf of this nation. I would also like to encourage the members of the church to take time to visit the Vet- erans Memorial downtown, and appreciate the ser- vice of our soldiers. I also want to encourage mili- tary families to be a part of our Warriors Helping Warriors ministry. This ministry enables you to be The Pastor’s Corner Rev. Wayne P. Snodgrass, D. Min. informed on information pertinent to veteran fami- lies. On November 13, at 2:00 P.M. we will share with the St. Matthews P.B. Church in their pastors anni- versary. For many years we shared the same space on the other side of the ditch. Actually, the organiza- tion meeting that formed Progressive Union, was founded in the midst of that congregation. I hope all of you will share with us in that service. I wish you all to have a wonderful time of Thanksgiving. Each year, our nation takes time to acknowledge reasons to be thankful. I pray Gods grace on each of you as you spend time with your family and friends, to give thanks for the goodness of God. Each year our Greater Huntsville Interde- nominational Ministerial Fellowship comes together as a body of churches to share in this celebration. This year we will meet at the St. Luke Christian Church, November 20, at 4:00 P.M. Pastor T. C. Johnson will be the speaker. On a personal note, this is the fourth year since we laid Lady Evelyn to rest in Huntsville Memory Gardens. I am grateful for the person she was in my life, and in the ministry of this church. I pray that as I serve, I will enable this church to be a church in the word, making a difference in the world. Articles for the December PROGRESS are due Sunday, November 27, 2016. I’ve got a feeling, everything is going to be all right…

Peace and power to all of you as we enjoy this season of thankfulness.

On November 13, at 2:00 P.M. we will share with the St. Matthews P.B. Church in their pastor’s anni-versary. For many years we shared the same space on the other side of the ditch. Part 71 Progressive Union constantly stresses being a

Church in the Word. Bible studies are conducted Monday through Friday and Sunday school being taught on Sundays. The question is have we became like the Pharisees and Scribes? They are very knowledgeable of the Word but not necessarily do-ers of the Word.

In the second book of Timothy he talks about how man will seek a religion to satisfy their desires. Then Timothy talked about how he lived as a doer of the Word. He addresses being willing to risk his life for righteous sake. Are looking for only bless-ing and favors from the Lord or are we willing to suffer as Christ did? When we become a living sac-rifice as Christ did, we can then start “Making a Difference in the World”.

Brother James E. Smith submitted pictures and

articles from three events, and they are being shared here with the church family. The first article with pic-tures is the 90th birthday celebration of founding member, Mother Louise Roberts. The second article and pictures is the homecoming for a lady who James met through the church’s AIMS ministry. The last is an article and pictures from the Singles Ministry monthly volunteer services to the Manna House, a ministry that provide meals for those in need.

Founding Member 90th Birthday

A founding member of Progressive Union, Mrs. Louise Roberts, celebrated her 90th birthday on Au-gust 30, 2016. A birthday party in her honor was giv-en at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Clifford and Delvia Hughes. Attending the party was another founding member, Mrs. Edrina Pope. The pictures are from her party, Not pictured are Mrs. Georgia Lanier and Mrs. Lucy Leslie. Aren’t we blessed to have four of our founding members alive?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Hope” Never Gave Up Hope
A few years back, an inmate at Tutwiler prison,
made a special request to meet the driver who so faithful, during the gas crisis, made it possible for her to keep seeing her children doing the prison’s granted monthly visit. Her wish was granted and I was that driver.
Early this summer an inmate at the prison was re-leased after fourteen years of confinement. Her moth-er planned a welcome home dinner and invited me to attend and I accepted. At the dinner when the inmate was escorted in I recognized her as being the women that I saw in prison.
As an AIM driver, I witnessed her children grow-ing up from children to beautiful young adults.
The inmate name is “Hope” who never gave up hope of ever being reunited with her children. Picture 1 and 2 is the children doing one of the AIM visits. Picture 3 is the former inmate at the welcome home dinner. Picture 4 is the oldest daughter. Picture 5 is another daughter and son. Picture 6 is the union of a beautiful family after 14 years.
