Club Colibrí Ice Skating In January, Club Colibri had a field trip to go ice skating in downtown Sacramento. Most of the girls
that went were first timers. A lot of them fell and some of them bumped into others. They quickly
realized that the key to ice skating is to have balance. By the end of the day, they were able to ice
skate without holding on to the rail. It was a great, fun day!
Women’s March
On January 20th, women and men around the world marched to fight for women’s rights. In many parts of the world, including in
the United States, women are paid less than men, are abused mentally and physically and it is time for a change. This needs to stop
and we all need to work together. Club Colibrí made posters so that on the day of the march we could fight for justice. We met at
South Side Park and at 10:45am the march started. We walked to the capitol with thousands of people and a lot of activists gave
speeches. It’s important for everyone to know that they don’t have to just accept circumstances that are not fair. We must all take
action and Club Colibrí was happy to participate in the Women’s March 2018!
Lunada
We had our third lunada on January 25th 6:00pm to 8:00pm. We each brought an offering (flowers, sage, candles etc.) and a plate
of food to share. A previous club colibri member that helped create the club joined us to share her experiences in the club and how
she felt her participation has helped her now that she is in high school. After enjoying the delicious food, we made a circle around
the offerings and talked about various topics important to us. When we finished talking we played a fun game. Our lunada was lots
of fun and informative and we were all happy to spend time together.
juntas.

You are invited to participate in this month's Club Colibrí event. As you already know, March is the month that celebrates "the history of women."
"Women's History Month" was established as a way to recognize and celebrate the contributions of women in historical events and in contem-
porary American society. This national celebration began in the early eighties when Congress passed several laws and resolutions on the subject. In 1987 it was declared that March would be the month of the official celebration of the US Government dedicated to honor the women of the country. Club Colibrí members would like you to join us to celebrate the contributions of the women of the world. On many occasions women of color are not recognized for their contributions in the world for that reason we would like to focus on this marginalized group. Please read the following, share it with your children and participate in our second annual celebration of the woman! Thank you in advance for your support!
