Faith Magazine means to all ofyou, too. Its message of hopeful, positive prayer resonates acrossthe U.S. and around the globe, reaching out to Members likeRosetta N., of New York. OnPage 30, she wrote aboutFellowship, “I think of you as themodern day disciples and ambas-sadors of the Lord, distributingHis message around the World. You are truly a godsend, and Iwant to let you know that I loveyou always! Please just keep ondoing God’s work, and may Hebless and keep you in His care.”Letters like Rosetta’s are a

touching reminder of whyFellowship is different from somany other good organizations. Our Fellowship Friends have adeep, heartfelt connection withGod, and they are happy to writeabout it. On Page 13, MemberJessica F. from Louisiana wrote,“One day I was in an automobileaccident, and as a result I suf-fered a traumatic brain injury. Iwas in a coma for three monthsand in the hospital for an entireyear. Before I woke up from my

coma I had a vision in which Imet Jesus Christ! He told me,‘You see, I am real. Now, I amgiving you your life back, butyou must promise to never againdoubt that I exist.’ I’ve been a Christian ever

since. I put all my trust in theLord now. It’s not easy at times, but I know He’s always there forme.”

If that account of a direct con-nection to the Lord doesn’t giveyou chills, nothing will! OurMembers also say prayer hashelped them cope with the emo-tional pain of loss during a sea-son known for fun get-togethers.On Page 11, Member Shirley N.from Georgia noted, “As the hol-idays drew closer, one morning itdawned on me that I couldn’t liftmyself out of this depressionalone. It was going to take theLord’s help.”So, you see, Dear Friend, as we

start our next 75 years, you can besure the founding beliefs ofFellowship will hold strong. Weexist to serve you as we reach outand publish God’s message oflove. You will never read nega-tivity from us, just a positive andpowerful statement that theLord will support and comfortyou throughout your life, whenyou invite Him in.

It’s time for holiday gatheringswith friends or family membersdropping by, Dear Friend, whichmeans we all want our homes tobe nice and presentable for allwho visit. Your Fellow Membershave some good ideas about howto do that, so we have shared thebest of them here!

* * *

PARTY PREPIt takes some time to prepare

and plan for holiday parties, sohere are a few tips to take thestress out of that chore. The firstthing is, divide up each task sothey don’t overwhelm you!Organize chores by room so youcan complete a space, see yourprogress, and move on to the nextitem on the list. You may startwith this helpful plan: Day 1:Determine what needs to be doneand develop a strategy to accom-plish it. Day 2: Brighten the win-dows and entry. Day 3: Clean thebathrooms. Day 4: Clear out clut-ter in areas where guests will begathering or staying. Day 5: Cleanthe kitchen. Day 6: Touch up lastminute details in the partyspaces, then enjoy your guests!

* * *

EASY ICE Need ice for holiday events?

Don’t throw out that empty milk

carton, because it has anotheruse! As you empty them, rinseand refill square milk cartonswith clean water. Leave an inchin the top for expansion, thentuck into the freezer. Use frozencartons whole to cool ice chests. For crushed ice, turn the cartonssideways and smack smartlyagainst a concrete floor on allsides, then tear open the top andpour out the ice pieces.

* * *CHRISTMAS LIGHT SAFETY

Never connect more than oneextension cord together. Instead, use a single cord that is longenough to reach the outlet with-out stretching, but not so longthat it can get easily tangled. When hanging outdoor lights, keep electrical connectors offthe ground and away from metalrain gutters. Use insulated tapeor plastic clips instead of metalnails or tacks to hold them inplace.

* * *

A GOOD HOSTIf children are invited to your

holiday party, try having an activ-ity just for them. Creating aChristmas craft, a kid friendlymovie or game or cookie decorat-ing are all good ways to keepyounger guests occupied. As abonus, adults will enjoy yourparty more, too!

Joy to the world! The Lord iscome;Let earth receive her King;Let every heart prepare Himroom,And heaven and nature sing,And heaven and nature sing,And heaven, and heaven, andnature sing.

Joy to the Earth! the Saviourreigns;Let men their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains,Repeat the sounding joy,Repeat the sounding joy,Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrowsgrow,Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessingsflow,Far as the curse is found,Far as the curse is found,Far as, far as, the curse is found.

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree fromCaesar Augustus, that all theworld should be taxed . . . And allwent to be taxed, every one intohis own city. And Joseph also went up fromGalilee, out of the city ofNazareth, into Judaea, unto thecity of David, which is calledBethlehem; to be taxed withMary his espoused wife, beinggreat with child. And so it was, that, while theywere there, the days were accom-plished that she should be deliv-ered. And she brought forth herfirstborn Son, and wrapped Himin swaddling clothes, and laidHim in a manger; because therewas no room for them in the inn.And there were in the samecountry shepherds abiding in thefield, keeping watch over theirflock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lordcame upon them, and the glory ofthe Lord shone round aboutthem: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them,Fear not: for, behold, I bring yougood tidings of great joy, whichshall be to all people. For untoyou is born this day in the city ofDavid a Saviour, which is Christthe Lord.

For many of us, the holidaysare a warm, wondrous timefilled with love and friendship. But for those who have lost aloved one during the year, or hada health crisis, or faced a varietyof challenges, the merrimentoutside can lead to feelings ofsadness. After all, if you’re hurt-ing inside, Dear Member, youlikely don’t feel all that festive. That feeling of heartache was

captured by the well knownElvis Presley song “BlueChristmas.”So, how can you cope with feel-

ing “blue” this holiday season?Here are a few tips:Solving Loneliness . . . Spend

time with positive people. Intime, you will notice their cheer-ful nature is rubbing off on you. That doesn’t mean you will for-get the reason for your sadness, but we’re sure being around pos-itive influences will lift yourspirits. Exercise regularly: Getting

your heart rate up and bloodpumping can help to clear yourhead and relieve stress. Eat right. Try not to eat too

much or too little, because bothbehaviors can cause healthproblems. Talk about your feelings. This

is a big one, Dear Friend. Manyfolks bottle everything up insidebecause they’re embarrassed of

talking about their problem orthey think keeping it secretmakes them brave. That couldn’tbe more wrong. Bottling thingsup inside can cause big healthissues down the road.Remember, Fellowship’s SpecialHelp Department is here for you!

Give to others. Getting out ofthe house and volunteering yourtime to help others in need willalmost certainly lift you up andinspire you to continue helpingothers. That’s because giving ofyour time is a rewarding experi-ence that makes you feel goodinside, Dear Member. Soon, you’ll notice you start thinkingmore about what you can do forsomeone who needs help, thanabout what is making you feeldown.

Lean on the Lord. This is per-haps the most important thing,Dear Friend, and it will lead youinto other positive behaviors.Even if you’re afraid to talk toothers about your problems, youknow you can always talk toGod. He is with you always, lis-tening and sending His helpwhen you seek it!

Turn Your “Blue Christmas” IntoA Positive, Uplifting Experience!

“I Couldn’t Lift Myself Out Of This Depression Alone!”

The holidays bring with themthe potential for lasting memo-ries of friendship, family gather-ings and fun. Sometimes theybring bittersweet remembrancesas well. That’s what I faced sev-eral years ago, Dear Friends, before the Lord healed my heart. You see, I had lost my mother

earlier that year. Her health hadbeen failing for a while, but thatdidn’t make it any easier to saygoodbye. We were very close, andafter dealing with that hurt, plusall the legal issues, I was exhaust-ed emotionally. The last thing Iwanted to think about was beingaround happy, smiling people dur-ing the holidays, because I feltbleak and alone. All my Fellow Members will

understand when I say I relied onmy Faith Magazine andFellowship to keep me going, especially on days when I didn’teven want to get out of bed. I readmy Daily Bible Verses each day, though my heart wasn’t in it. As the holidays drew closer,

one morning it dawned on methat I couldn’t lift myself out ofthis depression alone. It wasgoing to take the Lord’s help. I

talk to myself a lot, and this timeI said, “Don’t be ridiculous,Shirley! You need to writeFellowship’s Special HelpDepartment and get some goodprayers to talk to God and let Himhelp you move foward.”My mother had used

Fellowship’s special prayers onmany occasions, so maybe shewas looking down and sendingme silent encouragement. I wrotefor the prayer help and received itsoon after. For the next few weeks,I had a lot of conversations withGod. I asked Him to lift mydepression and ease the intensefeelings of sadness, hurt andanger I was harboring due to mymother’s death. It felt really good just to talk to

someone about what I was feel-ing, instead of keeping it allinside. I think it took the pressureand responsibility off me as Iturned my problems over to theLord and asked Him to help mework on them. The long, legal process conclud-

ed a few weeks before Christmasand I began to feel more at peace.I made myself go to a Christmasparty and actually enjoyed it. Tomy surprise, I made some won-derful new friends there as well. Thanks to the Lord and

Fellowship’s special prayers, Ifeel I can move on and relive goodmemories about my mother now!

Everyone knows about the“Top Ten Lists” you see on somelate night talk shows.

Well, Dear Member, herewe’re going to tell you aboutanother list of the “Ten PeopleYou Most Want To Meet.” Thesepeople would be folks you wantto spend time with and have asfriends.

1. The person who is willingto say, “I was wrong. I am sorry. Please forgive me.”

2. The person who puts God’sbusiness above any other.

3. The person who sees hisown fault before he sees thefaults of others.

4. The person who lookssquarely into the eye of tempta-tion and says, “No!”

5. The person who takes his

children to church instead ofsending them.

6. The person who has a readysmile and a pat on the back forothers.

7. The person who has a sin-cere desire to help rather thanbe helped constantly.

8. The person who tries to be agood example to those aroundhim or her, instead of just talk-ing about what he or she woulddo.

9. The person who commitshimself or herself totally to thejob, and is willing to give creditfor success to his helpers.

10. The person who gives hisor her time and talents, withoutthought of any return.

All of the above are from our“Top Ten List” of the peoplewe’d most like to meet and findmore of in the World. And cometo think of it, those are charac-ter traits that we’d most like tosee in ourselves, too. If westrive to live up to these ideals,we would make others aroundus happier, and be happier our-selves.

It’s no accident either, thatthese universal good traits fallin line with the Lord’s teach-ings and His selfless love for us,His children. That’s a “Top TenList” with which we all canagree!

Here’s A Top Ten List We All Want To Be On!

My Dear Fellowship Friends, I want to tell you what has

happened in my life to bring mecloser to the Lord. I was a horri-ble drug addict and alcoholic, plus I was a Satan worshipperfor many years. (Yes, there aresuch things, unfortunately.)Then, one day I was in an auto-

mobile accident, and as a result Isuffered a traumatic braininjury. I was in a coma for threemonths and in the hospital foran entire year. Before I woke up from my

coma I had a vision in which Imet Jesus Christ! He told me,“You see, I am real. Now, I amgiving you your life back, butyou must promise to never againdoubt that I exist.” I’ve been a Christian ever

since. I put all my trust in theLord now. It’s not easy at times, but I know He’s always there forme. Living with a brain injury is

very hard, but Jesus makes iteasier. Well, that’s my story and I

hope that you decide to print itin Faith Magazine, because Ithink it will make people thinkbefore they do something bad. I regret the things I did all

those years ago. But with theLord’s love, I have turned my lifearound.

Member Jessica F., Louisiana

Dear Fellowship, Thank youfor praying with my son andwith me during our time ofstruggle. That’s when my sonwas accused of a very seriouscrime, and he was facing seriouscharges. I had nowhere to turn. Ilooked up an old friend who stillhad Fellowship’s address fromyears past. My son had no bond, and

every attorney I contacted want-ed thousands of dollars to helpus. After I contacted yourSpecial Help Department forprayers things began turningaround for us. Someone referredme to an attorney who took onthe case for a $1,500 deposit. Hetalked with the judge, whoagreed to release my son in timefor the Christmas holidays, without us having to put up abond. Then, when the case final-ly went to trial, it was thrownout of court for lack of evidence. Thank you so much,

Fellowship. Today, my son isback in school and he’s workingat night. Please continue to sendme your prayer help so this goodnews can continue!

When Christmastime drawsnear and you see people buyingdolls and toys for their young-sters, I’m reminded of how theLord blessed me to turn myhobby into a very good business! It happened in a most unusual

way, but that is how God oftenanswers our prayers . . . in wayswe least expect. You see, my hobby was mak-

ing dolls and stuffed toys, but Inever imagined that it wouldturn into a big financial blessingfor me. I had been praying to the Lord,

asking Him to show me the wayto earn money, which my hus-band and I really needed. It wasso difficult to manage on ourincome. One day, my mother-in-law

who is an artist told me she wasgoing to display some of herpaintings at an art show thatwas being held in the city park. “Grace,” she said to me, “it’s

going to be quite a job taking allmy paintings down there forthis show. Would you mind com-ing along and helping me?”I told her I would be more than

glad to lend a hand, and she sug-gested, “Why don’t you bringalong some of your dolls andtoys and put them on display, too? They’re beautiful, and Iknow people would enjoy look-ing at them.”At first I was a little hesitant

because I had never thought ofmy hobby as being that artistic. But I finally agreed, and I pickedout some of my favorite toys anddolls to display in the park. And right there was the unex-

pected answer to my prayers!Yes, people who came to the artshow were so impressed withthe things I had made that theystarted buying them immediate-ly. From that time on, I havebeen getting a steady stream oforders to purchase all the dollsand other toys I create! Ourmoney problems are lifted, andat the same moment, I’m doing ajob that brings me so much joy!I thank the Lord over and over

again for guiding me in such awonderful way to earn a betterliving through my hobby. Whenyou pray to Him you just neverknow what good and surprisingevents can take place for you!

Dear Friends in Fellowship, It is with joy that I write to

Some Members have inquiredabout how they might make abequest to Life-Study Fellowship.Through the years, many

Members have chosen to remem-ber our Fellowship in this spe-cial way and we are truly grate-ful. Some Members have includ-ed Fellowship in their wills, while others have named Life-Study Fellowship in their lifeinsurance policies. If you are interested in making

arrangements through your will,we suggest you talk with anattorney who can explain the taxadvantages and ways to go aboutmaking such a bequest.

Please remember that it is toeverybody’s advantage to have awill. This doesn’t apply just tothe very wealthy. The truth iseveryone who owns any propertyneeds a will to direct who shouldbenefit. Otherwise, some or all of your

property will be split up accord-ing to state law which may leaveyour property in ways you didnot want or intend. Therefore, whether or not you

include a bequest to Life-StudyFellowship, we encourage you toseek the services of an attorneyto have a will drawn up if youhave not already done so.

“Silent Night” is perhaps themost famous and belovedChristmas carol of all time,Dear Member. We thought itwould be nice to tell the storyhere about how it came to be. Its lyrics began as a poem

written Dec. 23 or 24, 1818, by thepastor of a small church nearSalzburg, Austria. The pastorwas on a trip, and upon return-ing to the church he learned thesanctuary’s organ was broken.

There was no way to repairthe organ in time for MidnightMass and members of thechurch’s congregation fearedthere would be no music thatnight! Can you imagine what a tough

spot the pastor found himself in,Dear Friend? What could he pos-sibly do to ensure the ChristmasEve mass was the kind of ser-vice his parishioners wereexpecting? Well, the pastor took his poem

to a local music teacher andmusician who also played in thechurch, and asked him to matchthe words to a melody that couldbe played on a guitar. The musician worked all day

on the piece and finished it intime for Silent Night to be per-formed for the first time thatnight in 1818 at Midnight Mass.

That simple song, written tobe accompanied by a simpleinstrument, quickly gained

favor throughout Austria. It wastranslated into English in 1863,and brought to America in 1871. So, Dear Member, each year as

we celebrate the beauty andspirit of Christmas, let’s take amoment to appreciate one of themost beloved carols ever writtento mark its spiritual meaning. As you sing its words, think of

how the pastor and musicianfrom nearly 200 years ago madethe best of a bad situation to cre-ate an iconic piece of music thatinspires people today. May we truly take to heart the

words of Silent Night and mayits message live on through ourthoughts, words, and deeds atChristmastime and beyond.

New Year’s Request

Dear Lord, for this coming yearJust one request I bring,I do not pray for happiness,Or any earthly thing.

I do not ask to understandThe way Thou leadest me,But this I ask: Teach me to doThe thing that pleaseth Thee.

Dear Fellowship Friends,I am so happy to write and tell

you that I have been a Member ofFellowship for 37 years! Yourbeautiful Faith Magazine, and allthe books and literature andprayers you’ve sent me taughtme how to pray. I appreciate allmy Fellow Members around theWorld praying with me, too. Thispleases God. I’ve learned by searching the

Scriptures that God’s Word issweeter than any honeycomb, and that prayer is the key to theKingdom of Heaven, and faithunlocks the door. I know I can call upon Jesus

anytime. His “phone line” isnever busy. As He says in theBible Verse of Jeremiah 33:3 . . .“Call unto Me, and I will answer

thee, and shew thee great andmighty things, which thou know-est not.”I am a witness that you can callupon the Lord God, for help, andHe will answer and show up ontime. I’ve sought His guidancemany times. His Son, Jesus, is a miracleworker, too. He is my rock, myfortress and my shield. He iseverything to me. He holds thepower of Heaven and Earth inHis Hands, and is all-knowingand always available. Yes, God has bestowed so many

blessings upon me and my familythat I can’t even count them. Icould write a book about them.Whenever I feel a little down, I sitdown and talk to the Lordthrough prayer. It doesn’t takelong before I feel the warmth ofHis caring presence, and my spir-its are lifted. I am delighted to be part of yourorganization as well. I try tointroduce and tell as many peo-ple as possible about Life-StudyFellowship. I think of you as themodern day disciples and ambas-sadors of the Lord, distributingHis message around the World. You are truly a godsend, and Iwant to let you know that I loveyou always! Please just keep ondoing God’s work, and may Hebless and keep you in His care.
