"O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?" Yes, those words are posed as a question. Have you thought about that question lately? Paul Harvey would often say, "Freedom without Responsibility won't last." As we pause this Independence Day to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of our Nation, my prayer is that we will also ponder the great responsibility we all have preserving our freedom. The Declaration of Independence, dated July 4th, 1776 goes into great detail outlining why we decided to declare our independence from Great Britain. The short answer is that our freedoms were being removed by the King at an alarming rate. The declaration opens with several references to God and closes with these words..."And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence (God), we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." I believe that in order to properly preserve our freedoms, we must, as our forefathers did, do so with that same "firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence."The second verse of our National anthem closes with these words..."And this be our motto: In God is our trust! And the Star-Spangled Banner in Triumph shall wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave."May God continue to Bless the United States of America! By the way, if you ask me, I'll tell you how to get a free copy of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. Bob Donaldson.

Have you ever been so grateful to someone that you don't know how to begin to thank them for services rendered so far beyond just their job? David and I went to Panama City Beach, FL to celebrate our daughter's birthday with her children in March. She had just lost her husband in a terrible car accident in October and we felt it was important to be there. The Covid-19 Virus shutdown travel for us for the next 7 weeks. Darius, a friend of the family's mother was one of
stthe 1 responder's. She is a nurse that was giving her all at the hospital. We saw the people across the country coming together in various ways to extend their gratitude to all of them. Our grandchildren made a sign to put in the yard for residents to join the family group by repeating the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States and to thank these first responders. We did this every night at 8:00 pm. When we returned home we continued the tradition. Neighbors joined us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. We posted a notice at the mailboxes to get park residents to participate. If you are not doing this,
stit's such a simple tribute to all 1 responders everywhere and in every profession to say thank you and acknowledge their sacrifice to us all. Just go to your front porch at 8:00 pm and say the pledge and clap loudly so everyone can hear. God
stbless the 1 Responders!
