Drum Corps BlastsBy Jerry Minto

Greetings from the members and friends of the Hadi Drum & Bugle Corps. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and are ready to work hard to make 2015 a memo-rable year for the D&B.

President Brian Lucas and his officers are now installed and involved in planning for the year. Brian will do a fine job of upholding the tradition of great leadership that had been the trademark of this unit.

We had a great Christmas party in December with a large crowd in attendance. Past President Randy Dierlam was presented the “2014 Achievement Award”. This was a well deserved honor and his many past achievements were highlighted by Jim Scheller who presented the award.

Since this is the beginning of a new year, our Treasurer, Neal Morgan would sure like to hear from you. Yes, that means dues for 2015 are now due. Let’s make every effort to take care of this in a timely fashion.

Our stated meeting for February will be held on February 13, 2015. Hope to see everyone there.

Hope to do this again next month and bring you the past and future happenings of your Hadi Drum & Bugle Corps.

HADI ORIENTAL BANDWEIRD NOTES

Steven R. Wozniak

Greetings Nobles and well wishes from across the Hot Sands. To our new Nobles, I hope you are reading this because WE would like you to become active with a unit or county club and enjoy the Brotherhood of being a Shriner! We invite you to stop by our Oasis any Tuesday evening at 7PM for fellow-ship, Camels Milk and our hospitality. I assure you that our band is full of life and we will enjoy your company. Another great year is upon us and we have already played for the Initiation of the Divan Officers and the installation of our new Potentate, Illustrious Sir, Ken Mitz. Great success is wished to all members of the Divan in order to maintain the Hadi Shrine as a place that we will continue to work for the children. Randy Eades, Director, summons all Nomads of Hadi OB to the Oasis to practice every Tuesday evening at 7PM. Our successful Oasis gatherings will be vital to the band being ready for our hosting of the 2015 GLSA Jamboree. The 2015 Officers look forward to a great year working to-gether and growing the band to maintain the Hadi Oriental Band as one of the active units in the temple and one of the best Oriental Bands in the GLSA. We look forward to see-ing all members that are available for practice and OB func-tions when anybody has the opportunity to join our fellow Nomads for fellowship and fun. It is one more year that we are thankful for one of our strong leaders to sit at the Head Table with his son Jake Gentry. That thanks goes out to The Hadi Oriental Band Secretary, Denis Gentry for his hard work and devotion to the OB. We look forward to the Father/Son Duo doing what they love to do. Denis, you are the baddest in your age group. I do not want to miss out on congratulating our Bandsman of year for 2014. That honor goes out to Rick Kennedy. Rick, we thank you for all that you continue to do for the band. All of your help keeps the band on a strong path of continued seeking of the Mandarin. The Hadi OB sends sincere thanks and congratulations to our outgoing Illustrious Potentate, Brian Ball. Also, a note of well wishes on his Imperial Divan undertaking. Thank you for working for the kids.Remember our sick and shut-in brethren and their families in your daily devotion that they may receive divine blessings. The Hadi Oriental Band wishes all Nobility, Family and Friends, peace and a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous year.

I am writing my last article. It is with mixed emotions that I do this. When you turn over the reigns to another person you must be sure they will be right for the job. I know that with this change I am leaving to coordinator’s position in very capeable hands. Ron Higgs will carry on in great fashion! I will still be available to give presentations to various groups. Contact me at 812-455-9718.

When I took over the coordinator position and was in need of purchasing a van I was told that we did not have enough money to make a deal. I called a former student and member of the Hospital Staff and told him my needs. He generously donated enough to get the van. Due to sev-eral generous donations since that time we have been able to make purchases in a timely fashion. What I am trying to say is that I am leaving us in a better financial state that I inherited. Keep it going!

I have failed to give credit to some very important people, please forgive me. Charlene ran the Vincennes operation for many years. Since Charlene has retired, Mary Lang has stepped up and filled the void. She is also getting help from Gary Stiles, Dennis Massey and Jed Lang. THANK YOU for accepting this responisibility!

I am including a summary of what we did in the way of trips and patients in the years 2010 through 2014.
