I would like to start by asking eve- ryone to take a moment and reflect on the past year. While there have been some bumps in the road this year, we have weathered the storm better than most. With the progress we have made this year, with all the shutdowns and limitations, image if we were able to operate at full pace. We started December with our annual Elks Me- morial Service which was exceptionally well done. Thank You to Tim Kessler for making everything run smoothly. The Savage Club prerecorded music (along with video) was fabulous. Thank You June Gee who prepared all the food (and Leanne Field for passing around the food). Thank You John Perko who did his usual wonderful job on the eulogies. The Lodge looks beautiful with all the holiday decora- tions. THANK YOU, Rita Carlson and Deb Nor- man, for all you do to put our best face forward. April is getting closer and we still have a couple open Officer positions. Anyone interested should contact myself or Lodge Secretary, Tim Kessler for more information. Remember that we go back to (2) meetings per month in Feb, March & April. We will be nominating officers at the first meeting in Febru- ary and voting on those nominations at the second meeting in February. We had a response from a veteran who received one of our welcome home baskets. He called the Lodge to thank us for all the things he received and to explain how much it meant to him. I want to thank Gary Carlson again for getting this grant approved in record time. It really touches the heart to hear how much something so small meant to someone who is starting out with nothing. It should be a reminder to all of us that no matter how small the act of kindness is we can all make a difference to someone who is in need. We have received many positive responses to our programs this year. They are posted on the bulletin board so take a moment to read them. The diction- aries have all been distributed, our Veterans baskets delivered, local food pantry’s have received several grants and we are just getting started. There are still a few hats for sale, available at the bar. THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed Lodge pins for our Lodge pin cabinet located near the bar. We have been initiating many new members the last few months and plan on initiating (8) new members in January. It has been wonderful to see so many new faces in the Lodge regularly and to see them interact- ing with the older members. Our donations to Elks National Foundation have been nearly double the per capita, with the grants we have received this year we have gotten nearly $4 dol- lars in grants for every $1 dollar contributed. In closing, I would like to say that while there is light at the end of the tunnel in 2020, we are not out of the woods yet, so keep up the good work with masks and social distancing. THANK YOU ALL for every- thing you do to make us who we are. Fraternally, Patrick L. Board of Governors Meeting…Wednesday, December 16, 2020

(Virtual Meeting via Email due to Weather & Lodge Closure) Attend-ees: Pat Neff, Tim Kessler, Judy Wood, June Gee, Ed Sneddon, Tom Morgan, Mike Lunger, Scott Rougeau & Matt Cicchetti

Discussed Personnel Issues.

Apartment Update: The lease for the 2021-2022 School Year has been signed by the current tenants. Instead of the normal 11-month lease, this will be a 12-month lease, so an extra month of revenue for the lodge.

New Year’s Day: Angela has requested New Year’s Day off, so Tim will be tending bar from noon to 8pm. We will have some sort of food that day; will advertise via email when confirmed.

Initiations: Gary Bordoni will be cooking the Initiation Dinner on January 13th.

Coffee Maker: Discussion about purchasing a Keurig for those mem-bers that just want 1-2 cups of coffee so that we’re not wasting a full pot.

Discussed the Calendar from Jan-AprilRespectfully submitted,

June Gee, Trustee

Thank You, Chip Wood, And Co. For The 33 Club Get Together!

You know, sometimes good things just happen. Well, when Chip Wood is in charge, you know good times are the usual. And that ain’t bad!

Thanks Chip for your usual leadership of a hard-working band. Special thanks to Tony Joseph in the kitchen, the grinning greeter Lou Fabi and the game organizer, Coach John McNally.

And of course, Mr. Jeff was hard at work behind the bar. It’s amazing how Jeff survives a week-end with the extra work he has to perform with his lunches on Saturday. He now has to personally serve you instead of the buffet. That $3 ante doesn’t make it with the work Mr. Jeff puts out each Saturday. A $5 spot would do nicely.

Thank You To The Folks For Their Special Efforts On The Dec. Antler

Once again, we kept with the tradition of printing the December Antler in festive holiday colors. Thank you to Maria Bise, who designs our monthly publication, for her hard work from way out in California.

Also, many thanks to Lisa at The Mailbox for printing the December issue in color at no extra cost. Both of your efforts were certainly recognized by many of our members.

Certificate to Celebrate Businesses that Fly the Flag

The Grand Lodge Fraternal Committee continues its newest Ameri-canism program, the “Certificate of Honor for Properly Flying the Unit-ed States Flag”. The purpose of the program is for Elks Lodges to inter-act with and honor local businesses for properly displaying and flying the United States flag during the day and night with proper illumination.

Calling All MembersThe Ithaca Elks Lodge is looking for nominations from our current

membership to recognize those businesses that properly Fly the Flag as stated above. Send your nominations to Lodge Secretary, Tim Kessler at [email protected] or by leaving message at the lodge, 607-273-3172.
