BARTERYou Should Know's

By; Susan Hummell

Below are a few of the important things I havelearned, please let me share them with you:

Call in your transaction as soon as it happens, (not unlike ac-cepting cash payment), this should take place as soon as the to-tals are made and the service is rendered or the productchanges owners. This works best for all concerned in manyways, you know the client has enough trade dollars to cover thetransaction, and the client hasn’t spent his dollars twice. Howmany times have we checked our balances and found moremoney than we expected… only to purchase something else, and then the original transaction goes through to leave a neg-ative balance?

Processing the transaction can be done in a couple differentways; online, choose the Transaction icon, then New transac-tion, fill in the blanks and submit. If that is too scary (worriedyou could mess things up!) you can call the office and someonecan post the transaction for you. Dial (407) 641-0221 andchoose option 5, and a real person will process your transac-tion for you.

Someone asked me the other day, “What is trade goodfor?” My answer to that was “Whatever you want.” It iswhat you make of it. If you need a business tool, bartercan increase your business by word of mouth from mem-bers to their non member (cash paying) friends and as-sociates. If you need to be kept busy, barter can offer aflow of clients to your business and your rewards willwork towards your goals.

Your Trade dollars work FOR you, plan ahead of time…As soon as I have enough trade dollars I want? A vaca-tion, advertising, massage, home remodel, family time

out to restaurants, gifts for employees? My personal tradeaccount is used for the auto mechanic, restaurants, hairsalons, TBN showroom, Comedy Clubs, etc. I use mytrade account quicker than it comes in. If your accountgrows quickly, call me before you spend your cash tosee if those products or services are available on TheBarter Network… The worse time to find out we havenew members is right after you spent your cash on aproduct or service that is available on trade.

Make this opportunity work for you, just a few moments of planning can make the difference.

What is trade good for?By: Susan Hummell

Barter as we all know has been happening for as longas time has been recorded. Horses, pigs, chickens, corn, wagons and even a few farmer's daughters. Times havechanged but a few things remain constant. Everyone wantsto make sure that they get fair market value for their prod-uct. In effect one horse does not equal one chicken. Un-less, your chicken is related to the “Goose that LaysGolden Eggs”, or the other guys horse only has 3 legs. That’s why working with The Barter Network gives busi-ness owners peace of mind when doing a barter transac-tion. You simply sell your product or supply your serviceand price it as you normally would. Then whenever youneed to spend those trade dollars you can check the priceand quality of the item or service. If you are happy withyour purchase you can move forward with the deal. YOUhave a choice.

Barter purchases are no different then any cash pur-chase you’ve ever made. Do your research and make aneducated decision. When you are selling your product thesame philosophy applies. If your company overcharges orgives bad service you’re not going to build your business.Everyone likes to refer someone who does really goodwork. You build your business by taking care of each andevery customer like your life depended on it. Because itkinda does.

The other constant about bartering is most business own-ers enjoy the friends that they’ve made along the way. I’vebeen doing barter since 1982 and many businesses havecome and gone, but the relationships I’ve made over theyears have remained Priceless.

So they say "The economy is bad" and that is whybusiness is not booming. So what will you do in themeantime? Being a barter member already puts youone step ahead of the other businesses that do notbarter and who are currently struggling.

Although you are using your barter money how efficiently are you using it? There are many ways youcan improve the success of your business by reevaluating the efficiency of your barter account. Thesteps below are some of the ways your business canstay successful during these hard economical times:

Successful Tips for the ExtraordinaryBusiness Owner

By: Jane Bergenske

1. Review services you use on a daily or monthly basis that are considered luxuries (meaning if you do not have it you would survive) and replace them with barter.

2. If you are advertising to help bring in more business, use barter.Develop a website, print flyers with specials, send referral cards, create and deliver thank you baskets, purchase an ad in the trade newsletter or purchase a booth for the 2008 tradeshow, etc.

3. Everyone needs a break, so take a spring or summer vacation with the family. Go somewhere fun and enjoy your stay on barter. A break always helps to relieve the stress and tension in a busy work schedule and can help improve your state of mind for the 2nd half of the business year.

Do you get our E-mail Blasts?

The Barter Network sends out a weekly E-mail Blastevery Tuesday afternoon. The E-mail blast lists new clientsthat have joined the previous week, as well as features news and special events, lists clients looking for more business, travel opportunities, and clas-sified ads.

It is our best way to keep our members up to date withwhat is going on at The Barter Network. If you are not receiving the e-mail blast you may have a spam blockeror we may not have your current e-mail address. Pleasecall your broker with your current e-mail address. Pleaselet us know if you have any items to trade for our classified section. We only mail a quarterly newsletter 4times a year, so the 52 week e-mail blast is very important for successful trading.

Referrals are golden. Not only does The Barter Net-work offer bonus trade dollars for each company youget to sign on with us, but you also have a direct handin getting the kinds of companies you want to use yourtrade dollars with. While enriching the Network you canalso promote your business.
