B For Channel sleepers1

Tenderer has to submit details drawing of channel sleeper (on the basis of Railway Standard drawing) of the bridge after taking field measurement of the bridge. This drawingwill be prepared in the Auto Cad and he has to submit drawing of every bridge in tracing paper and C.D. RITES will approve this drawing. No extra payment will be made forthese drawing. Any delay in preparation/submission of drawing will be on contractor account.

The rates of item no. 12 is inclusive of trial assembling and fixing minimum 20 sleeper (selected at random) on a nominated bridge. The large-scale manufacturing is to betaken up only when satisfactory performance will be obtained on trial.

Galvanizing of steel channel sleepers with M.S. Fittings shall be done by hot dip process of thickness 100±5 microns with zinc conforming to IS: 869-77 and IS: 2628-85.

The work includes cutting of steel to size and shape, drilling, assembling, welding, riveting, bolting, holing, milling, grinding, Galvanizing and performance of any other activityrequired in manufacturing of steel channel sleeper and supply of all fittings and fixtures excluding rubber/elstromeric neoprene pads.

Channel sleeper may have to be fabricated for 60 Kg/52 Kg or 52 Kg/90R running Rail (main Rail)/guard rail or any other combination.

Rate should include all taxes i.e. sales tax, excise duty, other levies etc. and all other incidental and unforeseen expenditure if any. Octroi exemption certificate will be issuedon request and if applicable.

No drilling, cutting, punching or exposing the bare metal, welding etc. will be permitted after galvanizing.

80% of the above rate will be paid on receipt of galvanized steel channel sleeper with fittings and fixtures at the bridge site. 20% of the above payment will be made afterfixing of channel sleepers but payment of fixing will be made under item no.16.

For payment purpose, actual weight of finished sleeper with all M.S. Fittings will be considered. This should however not vary more than 2.5% of nominal weight of sleepershown in/calculated from standard/approved drawings.

All nuts should have self locking screws threaded insert (Stainless steel helisert). No extra payment shall be made for this.

For all the supplied items the contractor has to give one indemnity bond and has to keep the items in safe custody by deputing day & night watchman up to the completion ofthe work. RITES will have no responsibility on this account for theft, damage, loss etc. payment will be entertained accounting the materials fitted & fixed on the running lines,for the material paid for but not fixed on a bridge, pro-rata recovery will be made.

a. 10mm thick grooved neoprene rubber pad plates between main rail and canted bearingplate as per approved drawing No. RDSO/T-5155.

(Care should be taken during the transportation, loading, unloading etc. to ensure that no damage is done to the galvanizing. However the galvanized surface is advertantlydamaged, should be painted as detailed below).

Application of two coats of paints red lead confirming to IS: 102 as priming coats on an approval surface.

Application of two coats of paints Aluminium confirming to IS: 2339 as covering coat as per the approval of Engineer-in-charge.INSPECTIONThe finished steel channel sleepers and grooved steel plates which are inspected and passed to the work by RITES/CSPGCL, should only be brought to the work site by thecontractor.

Material shall be dispatched to site of work by the contractor in full sets i.e. channel sleepers with all matching components fittings complete. The matching components will besupplied duly inspected and passed by RITES in sealed gunny bags. The contractor will have to arrange for RITES inspection at their own cost and will be responsible forfurnishing all test certificate during the dispatch of fitting. Payment will be made only after submission of all test certificates to RITES.

Fixing of elastomeric pad covered vide Item No. 10 must be done by free of cost with contractors supplied epoxy adhesive and it must be approved by RITES.

Existing railway embankment near the proposed piers should be protected by proper shoring/sheet piling arrangement before statring starting the excavation forfoundation of piers. The necessary approvals from railways for safety of the existing tracks and also to avoid any interruption in the trafic movement will be theresponsibility of the tenderer. The cost of the arrangement will be included in the item rates and no extra will be payable for above arrangement.
