God gives each of us gifts and talents to use as he directs us and will enable us to complete the task or mission he sends us on. We are never alone, Jesus is always with us. We can do all things through him who gives us strength. There is nothing we can not accomplish if we stay in God’s will, centered and focused on Christ. We can be confident of this, that he who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Remember, Jesus is always there cheering you on! Simply believe…believe in the power of God and believe in your self. God will do the rest!

Believe In Your Self… read Philippians 1: 6 & 4:13

“I knew you could! And you knew it, too…That you’d come out on top after all you’ve

been through. And from here you’ll go farther and see brand-new sights, You’ll face brand-new

hills that rise to new heights.”

(from I Knew You Could! By Craig Dorfman

While on the mission trip with the youth I came across a children’s book, I Knew You

Could! by Craig Dorfman. It was based on the classic that many of you will remember reading

as a child, The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper. This new book is for all the stops in

one’s life…the ups and the downs. The book invites you to come along on a journey through

life’s peaks and valleys. With encouraging words of determination and wisdom the little blue

engine reminds children and adults to always believe in themselves.

It is amazing what young people are able to accomplish when they have the encourage-

ment of those around them. I have seen our youth group do many amazing things…like build-

ing a 12’x12’storage barn from the ground up… or build a new deck with stairs…or putting

new windows in a trailer… or spending 3 days cleaning and rearranging the tool and supply

barn at Henderson Settlement. Being on a mission trip is not always easy. The youth are away

from home and the security of Mom and Dad…they are in a strange city living and sleeping

among strangers… they are helping people they do not know and in places that they are not

used to being… they are working side by side with people that aren’t always easy to work

with…and asked to do things they really would rather not do (like sorting through used shoes to

find it’s match or cleaning rat droppings out of kitchen cabinets). It takes a lot of encourage-

ment and determination to finish the assigned projects with a smile on one’s face and the

assurance of a job well done.

We all need encouragement throughout our days. We need cheerleaders along the

way…family, friends, teachers, church family, Sunday school teachers, pastors, co-workers…

people who believe in us and want us to be our best and to come out on top of life! They are

people who are there to listen and to help us look inside of ourselves… to find the answers to

our questions about life. They are the ones who teach us that life does not revolve around just

one person…life is about working together for the good and betterment of all.

As a Christian we not only have the encouragement from people, but also from Jesus.

He said he would lead us and guide us through his Holy Spirit. God gave us his Holy Word to

gain wisdom to make decisions that are right and pleasing to Him. God gives each of us gifts

and talents to use as he directs us and will enable us to complete the task or mission he sends us

on. We are never alone, Jesus is always with us. We can do all things through him who gives

us strength. There is nothing we can not accomplish if we stay in God’s will, centered and

focused on Christ. We can be confident of this, that he who began a good work in us will carry

it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Remember, Jesus is always there cheering you

on! Simply believe…believe in the power of God and believe in your self. God will do the rest!

ENRICHMENT

During Enrichment, our kids have been learning about Joshua.

They made horns and marched around Jericho. The next week

they made the walls of Jericho out of Rice Krispy treats and the

soldiers out of marshmallows. As you can see, they had a lot

of fun while learning.

NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY

ENTRUSTED: A STUDY OF 2 TIMOTHY

You are invited to join us for our new Women’s Bible Study by

Beth Moore beginning September 28 at 6:00 p.m.

You have been entrusted with a great and mighty gift: the

gospel of Jesus Christ. But it’s not enough to keep it to yourself.

God has called each one of us to share this good news, and our

effectiveness grows when our journeys overlap, our spiritual

gifts converge, and we’re able to learn from and alongside one

another. In this study, Beth will encourage women to guard

what God has entrusted to them, further His kingdom by

sharing Christ with others, and mentor younger generations of

women just as Paul discipled Timothy. Because in moments of

joy and hardship, we need each other to stay the course and live

a life of faithfulness.

The Children’s Christmas Program this year is “The

Light Has Come.’ Watch for details to when the

practice begins….we are always excited for this time of

year.
