An induction program for II year new student

members in the Electronic Hobby Club was conducted on 13-

07-2019. A group of 35 student members (list enclosed) joined

the club, and were present in the induction program. HoD/EEE

addressed the new members on the initiative of the club. He

also encouraged the students to actively involve in designing

projects under the electronic hobby club using the

microcontroller boards available with the club. The student

president addressed the new joined members on the proposed

plan of action and activities carried out in the previous

semester. The faculty coordinator of the Electronic hobby club

also motivated the members to create a technology blogspot

and keep actively posting the challenges faced during

development of any projects in the forum. A brief introduction

about the microcontroller boards available with the club was

given to the newly joined members.

A Project display event was conducted on 27-08-2019 by the

students of electronic hobby club. Two students from II year

EEE evinced interest and displayed their project to the club

members. This created an interest among student members of

the club to involve themselves in few electronic hobby

projects. Students raised many queries during the project

INVENTIONS IN THE FIELD OF ELCETRICAL AND ELECTRONICS:

:

High Efficiency Photovoltaic Cells

One of the enduring challenges of modern electrical

engineering is to find an implementation of photovoltaic technology

that is efficient, effective under varying operating conditions, and

highly resistant to damage – while not being cost-prohibitive.

Different engineering approaches have been used to raise collection

and distribution efficiency, though perovskite-based cells have

recently captured the most attention at major research facilities.

Green Energy Electrical Power Converter

Once you collect energy, converting it for use in the

electrical system is an essential next step. A new power converter

developed in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the

University of Arkansas will now make it easier for users of renewable

energy to shunt excess energy into the power grid. This has the

potential to make rooftop solar initiatives much easier and to further

incentivize homeowners to pursue energy efficient technology.

\

Smart Electrical Grids

As energy systems become more complex and energy

sources become more diverse, smart grids are growing in importance

worldwide. Smart grids integrate innovative electrical technology at

multiple levels to improve flow control, detect malfunctions, and

automate service delivery. With end-to-end communication between

power plants, distribution sites, and the end user’s electrical point-of-

presence, it becomes possible to raise efficiency and reduce costs.

IOT Technology Driving Smart Household Appliances

Household appliance manufacturers are integrating their

products with the IoT technology to make customers lives

comfortable and convenient. Internet of Things technology is the

interconnectivity of physical objects and devices that are integrated

with sensors and software that allow them to exchange and collect

data. Major technologies enabling smart household appliances

include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, micro server and micro-

electromechanical systems. For instance, LG has created home chat,

an app that enables the user to monitor their refrigerators, cookers,

washing machines, and other devices from anywhere through their

smart phones.
