VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION Role: Hospitality Team Service: Saturdays at 5.30pm. Reports to: Service Coordinator (Steve Kryger)
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” -‐ Romans 2:9-‐13
Purpose: Hospitality Teams exist to provide an environment where newcomers and members can enjoy fellowship together before the service, during the mid-‐service break, and over dinner together once a month. More than ‘just serving food’, our hospitality teams are at the core of our mission at Church by the Bridge:
As we serve one another, welcome the newcomer, provide a means of fellowship, and put the needs of others before our own, we are turning this mission statement into a way of life! Responsibilities and Duties: Hospitality Teams are responsible for the following:
• Setting-‐up the food and drink table outside church before the service.
• Preparing and presenting food and drink before the service (outside church).*
• Setting-‐up tables and urn inside church – two tables for food and drink, including tea, plunger coffee and nibbles for the break.
• Preparing and serving food and drink during the coffee break.
• Setting-‐up tables in the hall (winter)/courtyard (summer) for the post-‐service dinner (only on the third Saturday of the month).
• Preparing and serving the monthly post-‐service dinner.
• Washing-‐up and ensuring the kitchen (and hall, on the weeks when we have dinner) is clean and tidy, including mopping the floor if necessary.
* A barista is also rostered on each week to serve espresso coffee before the service. They are responsible for setting up the machine, making the coffees, and cleaning and packing up the machine.

Commitment: Hospitality teams serve for 2 weeks in a row, with 6 weeks off. On some occasions, serving on additional weeks might be required if other teams are down on numbers. Team members are required to have completed all set-‐up by 4.45pm, in order to attend the pre-‐service prayer meeting in the Hub. Therefore, this commitment is roughly 75 minutes before church (to set-‐up), serving supper during church, and 30 minutes after church (to clean-‐up). On dinner weeks (the third Saturday of each month), extra time may be required to prepare/cook the meal. Out of Pocket Expenses: We don’t want the costs of providing food to be a financial burden. If you would like to be reimbursed for food costs, please keep receipts and give them to Steve Kryger. Questions: If you have any questions regarding serving on a Hospitality Team, please contact Steve Kryger ([email protected], 0403 904 392). Thank you for serving us in this way. To God be the glory.
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” – Romans 11:33-‐36
