2 Into The World

“Becoming a volunteer is a very strong emo-tion... for the first time you are not repaid with money, but with smiles, gratitude, admiration and respect. Because of the loss of values of our society and with the passing of time, in the long run many of us forgot what being a health care professional or a teacher really means, that is, do our best to help other people using our own personal knowledge. In the world of volun-teering there are no social hierarchies... every-one works to reach the same aim: bringing relief and taking care of poor people and give them the opportunity to study and have an education. Making a volunteer experience in a country of the Third World does not simply mean leaving, treating a certain number of people and then coming back home ... No way! It does not mean teaching in a monotonous and repetitive way to the local children and then go away… No way! The real essence of a volunteer experience con-sists in the understanding of a population which is totally different from us, respecting another culture, finding ourselves again as human beings who live in harmony with Nature, sharing strong emotions and experiences with people who do not speak our language and much more.”

Discovering Into the WorldInto the World is an international organization that aims to promote, de-velop and support medical internship and voluntary service experiences tied to the English language teaching in Asia. All our projects support the international voluntary service in a useful and constructive way, not only for the people who will benefit from this serv-ice, but also for all the other people wanting to share their competences to live an unforgettable experience! Our final aim is to provide students attending the best European univer-sities with the opportunity to put into practice what they learned during their academic career through a practical experience of voluntary service in Asia.We strongly believe that an international voluntary service experience is an unique occasion to help people, but it also is an important opportunity to make a cultural exchange, to grow up and improve oneself, to become people able to influence in a positive way the surrounding social and economic environment. The engagement of each international volunteer represents an important contribution for local people, who really need our help. Diffusing the practice of the international voluntary service all around Europe and increasing people’s awareness on the importance of a period of pause from the studies to raise even more our passion for something we really love are two of Into the World’s main purposes. It is important to remember that leaving as an international volunteer not only is a way to help other people, but it also represents an unique oc-casion to enrich one’s personal and professional experience, to discover new cultures, to stake one’s all, to expand the horizons, to know how to face new situations which are very different from those of the western countries. An international volunteering experience with Into the World is the best opportunity to take a break and coming back home deeply enriched from a personal and professional point of view, strengthening in this way the main reason why we decided to become healthcare profes-sionals or teachers of our own lives.

StaffThis project takes shape from the personal experience of Coralie Pellissier, who worked as a volunteer in Nepal in 2011. After having taken part to this strong experience, she decided to offer the chance to live and work in an Asian country to all the other people who, like her, want to discover other cultures and live an unforgettable human experience.Coralie Pellissier was born in 1982 in Scarborough, Canada. In 1991 she moved to Italy with her family and lived there until 2003, when she decided to enroll in Europe’s most prestigious Chiropractic College, the Anglo-European Chiropractic College in Bournemouth, England. In 2008 she graduated with a Degree in Chiro-practic and a couple of months later, together with her father, she opened her first clinic in Genoa, Italy. She is specialized in Sports Chiropractic, she has a Diploma recognized by the FICS (International Federation of Sports Chiropractic) and at the moment she is vice-president of the Italian CICS (Italian Committee of Sports Chi-ropractic). Coralie offers chiropractic treatments within several international sport events and she takes part to several voluntary missions in different extra-European countries. Finally, she also writes for the Italian Pro Chiropratica Magazine. Coralie speaks fluently four different languages (Italian, French, English and Spanish) and she is fond of sport. As a teenager she took part in several in-ternational snowboard competitions and she became a member of the FSI (Italian Snowboard Association). The girl also played a lot of other sports, such as swimming (she obtained a lifeguard Diploma in 1997), she is a black belt in karate, scuba diving and many others. She defines herself as an “adrenaline-addicted”: she loves every kind of extreme sport, such as climbing, sky diving, bungee jumping, rafting and so on... She also loves treating children, using softer and painless chiropractic tech-niques. “Children have something special... their spontaneity, their expressions or merely their sincerity. Taking care of new generations means taking care of our future!”, says Coralie. She is also very curious about the world, that’s why she loves travelling. In 2001 she decided to leave for a year for Asia and this is where Into the World comes from.

Difference betweeninternship andvoluntary service

The internship is a period of apprentice-ship spent in an office, in a department or in a school to learn the job or the career that takes place there. The internship proposed by Into the World concern mainly the field of Medicine (chiropractic, osteopathy and ge-neral medicine) and they will be structured and organized together with the bodies who will join the initiative. All the participants will have to fill out a case history of the patient and then discuss an appropriate treatment with their tutor. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to deal with some diseases which are by now eradicated in the Western world and they will learn how to treat pa-tients that only a few times in their lives have had the opportunity to see a doctor. here the trainees’ work and collaboration will be very important.

The voluntary service instead is a job not regularly paid which is provided wherever someone needs work force in any sector. It is carried out by some citizens in favor of the community, the diseased people, the poors etc.. and to become a volunteer you do not need special qualifications. Into the World offers voluntary service experiences for the teaching of the English language in schools of the poorest communities, but soon it will deal with other projects. however, the vo-lunteers will always be followed by a tutor, but in this case, unlike the stage, they do not need to attend the last year of university and they do not have to adhere to the criteria imposed by their university.

Into The World 7

VolunteerInto the World does not organize only trainings abroad, but it also pro-poses a series of different volunteering experiences, such as:

volunteer Teacher. you do not need to have special qualifications and ■you can leave during four different periods of the year. he largest re-quest for teachers is for the English language .and you will teach in primary or secondary schools;support of the ex Dutch Mountain School in the village of rajban, ■Chitwan;construction of a small school dedicated to the women belonging to ■the “Chepang” ethnic group, the poorest ethnic group of Nepal, and overall support and help to this ethnic minority;riveting of new cliffs for the practice of sport climbing in Nepal. The last ■one was at Nagarkot, located at 40 km from Kathmandu;in collaboration with local operators we will give shape to the project ■“Green Soldiers” that aims to recruit volunteers to realize 2 or3 times per year a real cleaning of rural paths and villages.

PricesPrices include:visit the section “all inclusive” (5).The share paid to take part to our international voluntary service projects cover all the costs in the destination country. It is just necessary to add the cost of the flight. you can book your flight by yourself or, if you prefer, you can ask for help to Into the World and you will benefit from a series of advantages and price reductions for group departures.

Before you leave - pre-departure adviceOnce that you decide to leave, you will receive details concerning the insur-ance and your visa, as well as some advice on the useful things that you can bring with you. Our staff in the different destination countries is highly qualified; they will get in touch with you as soon as you enter for your favorite project, they will give you advice and they will answer to your questions both before the departure and during your stay.

Why volunteers have to pay?As an independent organization, Into the World is not financed by govern-ments or other associations. Unfortunately, our partners in the different des-tinations do not dispose of the necessary liquid assets to finance your partici-pation to a project or an internship, also because the countries you will live in are very poor. The main reason why they ask for our help is because they find it hard to hire even local workers. For all these reasons, our volunteers have to finance their experience by themselves. For further details, visit the prices page. your contribution allows us to provide an incomparable service and support. This trait is at the basis of our high reputation and we think that this is one of the reasons why our partners are also very satisfied of our projects and our missions. Sometimes things get mistaken: people think that the simple will to help is enough, whereas it is very important that the interventions and the missions are well-organized and prepared in every single detail. Into the World offers an excellent service: we organize your work as an international
