Position Summary & Essential Duties : Provides overall leadership for the Department of Operational Effectiveness including: Leading the implementation of an enterprise-wide department responsible for leading all significant operational improvement initiative s across the organization and tracking an initial project portfolio of over 200 initiatives with measurable return on investment. Overseeing Information Technology & Solutions Project Management Office with project portfolio of over 75 initiatives. Developing enterprise-wide methodology and tools to guide performance improvement initiatives. Determining the initial staffing model and hiring team members. Implementing training and development plans focused on: Educating senior executives on performance improvement methodologies and their responsibilities as project sponsors. Developing training for staff focused on expanding core skill sets and implementing career development plans. Creating a designated group of resources from individual UH departments with knowledge of performance improvement methodologies and tools to partner resources with on s elected engagements through a matrix arrangement. Communicating the key components of operational effectiveness and performance improvement methodology & tools to all levels of the organization. Serving as a conduit between the department of Operational Effectiveness, executive leadership and system project stakeholders for the transfer of information, issue resolution, resource identification and removing barriers to project success. Offering consultative services to internal stakeholders for project management and performance

• Building relationships with key external constituents to further the goals and objectives of the

department; overseeing external consultants focused on augmenting UH resources with subject matter 

expertise on selected operational improvement initiatives.

• Developing and delivering regular reporting of a system dashboard for the portfolio of all projects;

providing executive leadership with regular updates on portfolio performance.

• Developing budgets (operating & capital) and obtaining necessary tools to support projects and

objectives.

• Leveraging business intelligence process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, LEAN,

etc to further departmental and organizational performance.

• Collaborating with internal groups to build change management capabilities, provide effective

communications and offer continuous training and development opportunities as needed for the

successful implementation of projects.

• Aligning department objectives with System strategies and offering innovative recommendations to

drive overall effectiveness.

Experience & Knowledge:

• 12+ years progressive experience in an operations setting; hospital or clinical experience strongly

preferred.

• Strong background in project management, strategic development and operational analysis

required.

• Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale change projects with measurable return on

investment.

• Proven ability to handle multiple, changing priorities.

• Excellent oral, written & interpersonal communication skills are essential.

• Strong analytical skills are required.

• Experience developing capital and operating budgets to align with strategic objectives.

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge :

• Understanding of various project portfolio management applications.

• Knowledge of organizational change management approaches and tools.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree strongly preferred.

Credentials, Licensure or Certification (i.e. RN, RRT):

LEAN Six Sigma strongly preferred.

Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
