On-Demand(VPK Assessment)

Ongoing, Observational (GOLD™)

Purpose Used to monitor children’s progress in attaining the skills in the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards for Four-Year-Olds

Used to guide instructional decisions

Used to observe and document children’s development and learning over time

Used to support, guide, and inform planning and instruction throughout the year

Outcomes Shows children’s progress in mastering four specific pre-academic skill sets that have positive educational outcomes supported by research:

• Print knowledge• Phonological awareness• Mathematics• Oral language/vocabulary

Measures child learning gains across all domains as identified in the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards for Four-Year-Olds (2011) to the maximum extent possible.

Identifies children who might benefit from special help, screening, or further evaluation.

Data Use Provides feedback to teachers about children’s progress with regard to these skill sets

Generates reports to inform planning and instruction

Guides program planning and provides instructors with professional growth opportunities related to areas that support children’s learning and development

Jonathan stacked 7 kinex and counted each one as he stacked it.

Jonathan participated in the obstacle course today. He was able to jump over foam blocks and land on two feet, walk across a balance beam, frog jump over foam blocks, hop on one foot, and weave in and out blocks.
