MEET THE PLAYERS
COACH MELLOR
Good afternoon and welcome to today’s game, the National
Trophy semi-final, against our visitors from the South Coast,
Worthing Thunder.
Both teams will obviously be highly motivated, with the prize
awaiting being a place in the final. Worthing come here
currently sitting second place in the division and have as
talented a roster as their is in Division One and will be
pushing Solent, I feel, for the title, come the end of March.
From our perspective, today we have to be concentrated,
tough, execute at both ends of the court and leave it all out there on the floor.
Thanks for the support and enjoy the game.
Coach Mellor
Please join us after today’s game at the University of Bradford Sports Bar, where you will
be able to socialise with the players and officials. Note that the location has changed,
from previous seasons, due to the recent closure of the Westleigh Hotel.
There are ample car parking spaces available in the University car park (Longside Lane,
BD7 1SA). Turn onto Shearbridge Road and then take a right onto Longside Lane.
To gain access to the car park, just reference Bradford Dragons over the intercom.
Please then use the side entrance to the University bars.
Everybody welcome - Family friendly. We hope to see you there.

CHAIr’S CHAT
Wow!
What a game!
Were you there?
Where?
When
The last game of the year, against Solent Kestrels, the league leaders, who were on
an unbeaten run of ten games.
This was either the best, most exciting game that you have ever seen, or the best,
most exciting game that you have missed. The Dragons were magnificent and Rihards
Šulcs was in a league of his own. In fact, the entire team played out of their skin.
What a victory! Two amazing three-point buzzer beaters from Šulcs, the second of
which, with only 0.9 seconds remaining on the clock, gave Bradford the win - which
had looked unlikely only seconds earlier.
And since then … well, it’s been back down to earth in 2019. By the way, Happy New
Year to everyone at the Dragons, the players, the coaching team and of course you
the fans.
We welcome Worthing into the Den for our first home fixture of the year, in the semi-
final of the National Trophy. How we would love to come away with the win and make it
to our first National final since we were runners up in the Shield, way back in the
2009/10 season. Worthing will be tough opposition and we will need to be at the top of
our game, with everyone playing at their best, if we are to secure the victory that we all
so much want.
I’m confident that we can do it.
Go Dragons, Go!
Steve Valentine
