Thanks to Brian Corke and Trevor Clark for riding shotgun with me! It’s always nice to know that if we breakdown I won’t be walking back alone

Thanks - enjoy the trails and have a great riding season

Doug Roehrig

Grooming has been going well. We have been out grooming a total of 5 times – with 2 trips out past the Armstrong Chalet. The snow level appears to be slightly lower than average but there is still enough to fill the holes and creeks.

The groomer has been running well aside from a few minor break-downs. The last trip out, the groomer developed a hydraulic leak on a tiller fitting and a track belt tore though. Both will have to

The VSA recently hosted our Canadian mili-tary for a couple of weeks so that they could conduct search and rescue training for the upcoming Olympics. I understand they sort of took over the parking lot, so our apologies if their presence inconvenienced any of you. Their use of our trails, however, netted the VSA coffers an additional thousand bucks!

Our reputation appears to be growing as we seem to be attracting facilitators of various snowmobile operation/training courses….we have a great hill for these sorts of events, given that we provide easy riding, and our area is virtually avalanche-free. If you see anyone out there conducting a sled training course, please be patient and cooperate with them, assist them if they need assistance...be a good neighbor. That goes, of course, for when you see Trevor Clarke out there doing a sled tour. The additional revenue from sled courses and tours gives the Club a bit of a cushion...and makes Brian (our Treasurer) kick up his heels with glee!

Doug Ellis (VSA member) teaches one course/month during the winter. He focuses his ener-gies mostly on ―industrial‖ courses—he’s taught staff from the Ministry of Forests, the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Tourism, Sports and the Arts, as well as other contrac-tors and consultants. Basically, he instructs anyone who rides as part of their day-to-day work activities. If you’re interested, you can check out his schedule on Doug’s website

Hello All,

The sale of Four Seasons Motor Sports has now been completed and Kevin and I have officially retired from our business of 18 years as of the end of the year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your busi-ness over the years. Suc-cess cannot be accom-plished without wonderful customers and we have certainly appreciated your patronage and the friend-ships made along the way. We have made many great friends and wonderful ac-quaintances through snow-mobiling, Thursday night rides and ATV weekends. It will be an adjustment for us that is for sure.

So what are we going to do now? Our plan for the next few months is to drive down to Phoenix, where Kevin’s mom has been spending her winters. It’s a bit of a hiatus for us, a chance to unwind and refo-cus before coming back to

Vernon and into the next chapter of our life. Kevin couldn’t resist taking along a Polaris RZR and so we will be trying some desert riding. We can’t be without some sort of motorized toy after all!

Farewell from Sabine and Kevin Lutfring (4 Seasons MotorSports)

I have decided to pursue my Realtor license and work in Vernon once I have past all my examinations. I feel that this career choice will give me the opportunity to use my strong work ethic, organizational and people skills to their full

potential. I am incredibly excited about the future and can’t wait to hit the ground running. I’ll keep you all posted …..

So for now, Kevin and I wish you the best in 2010. And Thank You again.

Hope you all had a happy Christmas. It looks like a prosperous new year for the Club!

We have two new corporate sponsors to add to the four local dealerships….thank you ALL….without you, it would be very difficult for us to run the Club and fulfill all our operating requirements (maintenance, grooming, brushing, insurance, Park

permit fees, etc.) The Snow Show in the fall was very successful….thanks to all the work put in by Dianne and Gord Evans, and all the volunteers. We netted around $2500 from the silent auction and 50/50 draws. With most of the larger bills now paid, we are in pretty good financial shape for the rest of the season….barring any unexpected expensive repairs to the groomer. Keeping our fin-

gers crossed!

We now have 35 members and hope to pick up another 10 or more before spring. Daily trail passes are doing well, and should ex-

ceed last year’s totals.

All in all, we are doing very well this season!

Brian Corke

PS. We could use more snow...level is down compared to last year. Too bad we can’t purchase some, but can’t find the guy who

retails the stuff!

Treasurer and Membership Report

TELL ME THIS WON'T HAPPEN TO US !!!! An elderly Floridian calls 911 on her cell phone to report that her car has been broken into. She

is hysterical as she explains her situation to the dispatcher: 'They've stolen the stereo, the steer-

ing wheel, the brake pedal and even the accelerator!' she cried. The dispatcher said, 'Stay calm.

An officer is on the way.' A few minutes later, the officer radios in. 'Disregard..' He says. 'She got in the

back-seat by mistake..'

Three sisters, ages 92, 94 and 96, live in a house together.. One night the 96-year-old draws a bath. She puts her foot in and

pauses. She yells to the other sisters, 'Was I getting in or out of the bath?' The 94-year-old yells back, 'I don't know. I'll

come up and see.' She starts up the stairs and pauses 'Was I going up the stairs or down? The 92-year-old is sitting at the

kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters, she shakes her head and says, 'I sure hope I never get that forgetful, knock

on wood.' She then yells, 'I'll come up and help Both of you as soon as I see who's at the door...'

'I CAN HEAR JUST FINE!' Three retirees, each with a hearing loss, were playing golf one fine March day.

One remarked to the Other, 'Windy, isn't it?' 'No,' the second man replied, 'it's Thursday.' And the third

man chimed in, 'So am I, Let's have a beer.'

A little old lady was running up and down the halls in a nursing home. As she walked, she would flip up the hem of her

nightgown and say 'Supersex.' She walked up to an elderly man in a wheelchair. Flipping her gown at him, she said,

'Supersex..' He sat silently for a moment or two and finally answered, 'I'll take the soup.'

TELL ME THIS WON'T HAPPEN TO US !!!! Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades.. Over the years, they had shared all kinds of ac-

tivities and adventures. Lately, their activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play

cards. One day, they were playing cards when one looked at the other and said, 'Now don't get mad at

me .. I know we've been friends for a long time, but I just can't think of your name! I've thought And

thought, but I can't remember it. Please tell me what your name is.' Her friend glared at her. For at least

three minutes she just stared and glared at her.. Finally she said, 'How soon do you need to know?'

Two elderly women were out driving in a large car - both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along,

they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red, but they just went on through. The woman in the passenger seat thought

to herself 'I must be losing it. I could have sworn we just went Through a red light.' After a few more minutes, they came to

another intersection and the light was red. Again, they went right through. The woman in the passenger seat was almost

sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it. She was getting nervous. At the

next intersection, sure enough, the light was red and they went on through. So, She turned to the other woman

and said, 'Mildred, did you know that we just ran through three red lights in a row? You could have killed us

both!' Mildred turned to her and said, 'Oh, crap, am I driving?’

January 2010

The Vernon Snowmobile Association (VSA) welcomes you to Silver Star Mountain Park, outside of beautiful Vernon, B.C.

The VSA has been operating the 160 kms of trails and maintaining its two warm-up cabins on this mountain since 1967.

Part of the trail system is contained within a Provincial Park, and part is managed jointly with the B.C. Forest Service.

Silver Star Mountain Park offers a wide variety of terrain for all riders, but our trails are mostly geared towards family out-

ings. The VSA is a not-for-profit club, managed by an elected Board of hard-working volunteers. All trail maintenance

(brushing and grooming), and chalet upkeep is done by volunteer members. Without these diligent volunteers, the VSA

would not be able to continue to operate...so THANK YOU!

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard; I could tell from his collar and well

-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me

into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the

hall and again slept for about an hour.

This continued off and on for several weeks.

Curious I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who

the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware

that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to

his collar: 'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3

- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him

tomorrow?'
