INTIMATE AND INFORMAL

A wedding barn with a unique characterChilli Barn is a traditional Yorkshire stone barn unlike many others thanks to its comfortable size, rural setting near urban centres and sensitive recent conversion as a wedding venue. Chilli Barn is an intimate space with a personal, friendly atmosphere and unique character.

The high-arched, south-facing glazed wagon door overlooking meadows fills the ground floor and spacious mezzanine with light and the bifolding double doors open wide giving direct access to the lawn. Materials and furnishings combine rustic charm with glamour.

Chilli Barn’s size makes it ideally suited to couples looking to for an intimate, informal venue. Our maximum capacity is 66 during the day and 100 for the evening party.

Can we get married at Chilli Barn?Yes – Chilli Barn is licensed for legal marriage ceremonies by Leeds City Council, see the registrar pages on the LCC website. Provisional bookings can be made up to 3 years in advance for a small fee. Early booking is advised for the best choice of ceremony time. Chilli Barn also welcomes blessings, humanist and other alternative ceremonies.

Can we get married outside?Legal ceremonies are usually held indoors, however Leeds registrars have devised a special format allowing most of the ceremony to take place outdoors, weather permitting. Please ask the registrars for more information.

Can we decorate and dress the Barn ourselves?Yes – we offer access the day before and morning after wedding day to decorate and take away.

What are the outdoor facilities?Exclusive use of the 50m x 16m grassed area bordering meadows, reserved parking next to the Barn, access to the meadow, cobbled yard and farmhouse garden. Chevin Forest Park and two public car parks are across the road. Carpark space is reserved and overflow parking at public car

parks close by. A fire pit and straw bales are set out on the grass from May to September, weather permitting.

How can teepees, marquees or yurts be used?During the day, tipis and marquees are used mainly for dining and yurts as a drinks reception breakout space. In the evening they become a separate chillout space away from the party in the Barn. We arrange these for you with our trusted suppliers.

What are the indoor facilities?The Barn is fully furnished with limewash Chiavari chairs for ceremonies and dining and has a sound system and bar. There are three toilets with one wheelchair accessible with a baby changer near the entrance.

ON TOP OF OTLEY CHEVIN

A special place on the edge of the DalesChilli Barn, part of a family farm for well over a century, stands on the Chevin overlooking Lower Wharfedale in a picturesque and varied setting of pine forest and meadows, ancient beech woods and rocky crags.

Transport links are excellent, with Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate roughly equidistant. There is a good range of accommodation in the area.

What are the nearest road, rail and air links?The M1, A1 and M62 are all less than 15 miles away, Leeds is on the East Coast Line with a branch service to Menston (three miles) and Leeds Bradford Airport is just two miles away. Local taxi services are good although advance booking is recommended at peak times on Saturday nights.

What accommodation is available in the area?There are several large chain

hotels around the airport, a spa hotel just one mile away and a wide choice of hotels and guest houses in nearby Otley (1 mile) and Ilkley (5 miles).

Does Chilli Barn have a recommended supplier list?We believe your own personal taste and preference are vital in choosing key suppliers and so do not have a formal recommended list, however we are happy to advise on the many suppliers who have impressed us at Chilli Barn.

NO RUSH

Time to make your wedding day uniqueWe offer access the day before your wedding to decorate and personalise the Barn with family and friends. And no rush at the end of the night as you can return the morning after to collect anything left behind. Our one-day Sunday weddings are an exception when reduced rates apply (see p13).

Our wedding co-ordinator will plan your day at Chilli Barn in detail with you and be there for your ceremony..

How are weddings planned?Our wedding co-ordinator meets couples six months before wedding day to discuss and advise on key points including guest numbers, catering choices, party plans and overall timings. A plan, and updated quotation if required, is then provided with areas to be confirmed highlighted. A second meeting six weeks before wedding day is used to catch up and confirm details for the final invoice. Email contact is maintained throughout.

How is decoration arranged?Chilli Barn is designed as a neutral background for your wedding theme and many

different approaches can be taken to decoration and dressing. You can start decorating with friends and family the day before your wedding (Sundays excepted). Furnishings, table settings and any outside structures will be in place and our premises manager will be there to get you up and running with access as required. Any decorations to be kept and other belongings can be collected the morning after your wedding.

Can the outside areas be used for games?The Barn’s lawn and larger rough grassed area are ideal for setting up games to be played outside before the evening party.

VEGGIE SURPRISE

Onsite catering to surprise and delightOur wedding breakfast menus, developed with our neighbours the Cheerful Chilli restaurant, are exclusively vegetarian/vegan and prepared and cooked in our own kitchen.

The international menu is packed with enticing flavours and textures. Choose something delicious and different and let your guests discover how good a veggie feast can be! Drinks packages are also vegetarian and our wines organic.

PARTY TIME

Fill the dance floor!In the evening the ground floor of the Barn is cleared for the first dance, cake cutting and party. The Barn is a perfect party space for up to 100 with downstairs dancefloor and bar and mezzanine for party food and socialising. You can arrange your own entertainment or use our recommended DJs.

What drinks does the bar stock?Please ask to see our bar list which includes a range of premium gins, we can also source a cask real ale of your choice.

What is the party food?Popular choices are pizza and spicy potato wedges or a grazing table including a cheeseboard. Catering vans can also be hired in under certain conditions.

Is there an in-house band or DJ?No but we do recommend Hi-Life Entertainment DJs, who have played many times at Chilli Barn, for their versatility and skill.

Can music be played outside?Our music licence is indoor only meaning performers and DJs play inside the Barn and the folding doors are closed for the party.

Is there a sound system?Yes. It can be used for ceremonies, background music, playlists, DJs and band vocals/keyboards.

What about confetti/fireworks?Biodegradable confetti is welcome but fireworks are not allowed.

When does the party end?Our music and bar licence is to 11pm when the chandelier lights up, taxis start to arrive and guests say their farewells. A license extension to midnight can be applied for.

EXPLORING THE OPTIONS

Come and see usIf you think Chilli Barn may be for you, we would love the opportunity to show you around. Just let us know and we will get back to arrange a viewing and explore the options available with you. We can then offer a quotation based on guest numbers, catering and other preferences including your ideal wedding date.

The Barn hire fee includes wedding planning, Barn furnishings and staffing. Rates for May-September are £2,950 (Fri-Sat), £2,250 (Sunday), £1,750 (Tue-Wed) and for October-April £2,250 (Fri-Sat), £1,500 (Sun), £1,250 (Tues-Wed). Premium rates apply on Bank Holidays. Our wedding breakfast with a drinks package starts at £52.50 per person.

Wedding plans are flexible and can use marquees, teepees and yurts for drinks, dining and chilling out as an extra.

We offer a variety of dining arrangements for day guest numbers from 34 to 66. Some include the use of outside structures at an additional cost, either standing alone or attached to the Barn. The wedding breakfast can be served to table or informally, buffet-style, with or without seating plans.

We can offer a stand-alone teepee, petal-pole marquee or yurt, or a framed marquee attached to the Barn to give extra dining and reception space and a calm space for evening socialising away from the party in the Barn. We can explain these options in more detail at a show round and include them in your quotation, if requested.
