Community … it’s definition, description and the reasons it is an essential for our assembly here at Emmanuel

Enid is the topic of today’s talk. I can’t emphasize enough how important our emphasis on community is for the future of our church. It’s not a program, it’s a way of life.

We will observe the Lord’s Supper in both

our worship services today. Guests, feel free to participate with us as we celebrate all that Christ has done for us, and as we begin a new year enjoying Him!

We just concluded the best calendar financial

year we’ve ever had at Emmanuel. We have three months remaining on our fiscal year (January, February, March), but it is truly a miracle that we paid for our auditorium remodel without borrowing a penny. Thank you for your faithfulness to our church!

Our Sunday schedule resumes the normal times of worship next Sunday — 8:00 a.m., 10:30 Refuge,

and 11:00. In addition, our Sunday morning small groups, Kids Worship, and morning snacks will all be back with us! Thank you for your flexibility this holiday season.

G uests, we are thrilled you have chosen to begin the New Year with us at Emmanuel. Immediately after the

service, Rachelle and I along with others from our church would love to meet you in the HUB. If possible, plan to stop by and introduce yourself to us.

Welcome to Emmanuel! Let’s Worship!

The Lord’s Supper ...There is no better way to begin a new year of worship together than to remember and celebrate the new life we have been given in Christ.

Jesus broke the bread and told His disciples it represented His broken body. He shared the wine and spoke of His blood ... the blood shed on our behalf when he endured the cross. Please join us this evening at 6:00 p.m. for our large group worship time followed by break-out groups. There is a “newcomers” group each time to help familiarize you with the structure and purpose of CR. We have a meal at 5:15 for those who are interested in joining us then.

Our mature adults at Emmanuel love getting together just as much as teen-agers do! God created people to be socially engaged, no matter how “old”. Interpersonal appeal is especially fun when group members share a common joy in Christ’s rich love for us.

At Emmanuel we have a Seniors Activities Committee. We plan "away trips" as well as activities on campus. Just last week we chartered a comfortable bus to Wichita and

enjoyed dinner and a Christmas musical at Crown Uptown Dinner Theater. The committee will continue to plan future out-of-town adventures.

On campus in 2015 we will continue our popular weekly “Game Day” every Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the HUB. The gathering consists of tables full of seniors playing a variety of table games, while sharing our lives, enjoying snacks, and bursting into laughter. "Table Talk" is our small group that meets every first and third Wednesday of every month in a conversation over a chapter of Scripture, currently in the story in Acts — how Christ grew his people from the beginning, and now includes us — half-way around the world and two millenniums later.

Keep alert to our publications about all we offer for older adults. We invite you to connect. That's what Christian people are all about - loving one another.

Kids! Kids! Kids!Emmanuel Enid is so blessed with young families and the best kids around. This week Kids Day Out picks up again and we would like to remind you that if you need a day for mom (or dad) and want your kids to enjoy a caring learning experience, check out our Kids Day Out program. Available for children 6 weeks through Pre-K, we meet from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday and/or Friday (your choice of once or twice a week!). More information is available in the nursery, in the Pre-K area, the HUB, or the church office. We would love to welcome your children into this program.

Next Sunday, we will be back with Kids Worship and our regular children’s programs. AWANA will pick up on Wednesday, January 14th. We are so looking forward to being with your kids each week and sharing the love of the Lord with them.

“CR hasprovided me a safe place to share my heart with others

who are dealing with similar issues without

fear of judgment.”

WEDNESDAY @ EMMANUEL ... beginning Wednesday, January 14th, our regular evening schedule will pick up again beginning with our Fellowship Meal at 5:00 p.m. Peggy Bowers always has a great meal available and you can’t beat the price — $5.00/6th grade through adult; $3.00/PK through 5th grade; with a maximum of $20/per household! If you are not already on the reservation list, call the church office at 237.0602 to add your name.

At 6:00 p.m., Pastor Wade will lead a Bible study in the HUB

on “Eternal Reward and Judgments.” At the same time, our children meet for AWANA and our Middle School students have FUEL.

At 6:30 p.m., our adult choir program meets and our High School students meet off campus for FUEL.

There is something for everyone!

SUNDAY EVENiNGS @ EMMANUEL ... will start up on Sunday, January 18th. Along with our Celebrate Recovery program and “Win in Ten” which begins on January 11th, Pastor Ted will lead a Bible study in the HUB; we’ll have a ladies Bible study, parenting class, and more! Again there is something for everyone as our Children’s Choirs begin a new semester to prepare for a special spring program on April 26th and our youth have The Landing in the Connect Space.
