Refund/Withdrawal PolicyYou will receive a 100% refund if we cancel a course.

If you withdraw from a course:• Five days prior to the start date you will receive a full refund less the $10 processing fee.• Less than five days prior to the start date you will receive 75% on account credit (nontransferable and expires 1 year from issue date)

• No refund/or on account credit will be issued for withdrawal on or after the first day of class.

On account credits are not transferable to other students and will expire one year from issue date.

The refund/withdrawal policy does not apply to career, certificate or license courses.

Cancellation PolicyThe School of Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient enrollment and to makeinstructor change or to change class schedules due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of a class cancellation, SCE will make every effort to contact students via email or phone as soon as possible.

Inclement WeatherWhen day school is cancelled due to snow conditions or other weather or emergency events, evening classes are also cancelled. In the event day classes arenot cancelled and the Montachusett area expects severe weather in the evening, adecision will be made by 3:00 PM. Please listen to the local television and radiostations for current cancellation notices. In addition, our office voicemail and website will reflect SCE cancellation.

Cancelled classes are made up (same day of week and time) by extending the finishdate of the course unless other arrangements are made between the instructor andthe class, approved by the director.

First Day of ClassOn the first night of class, participants should arrive five minutes prior to thescheduled start. All students should enter through the main entrance and you willbe greeted by SCE representative. Your instructor will meet you and bring you toyour classroom.If you arrive late, please come to the School of Continuing Education office locatedoff the main lobby and we will escort you to your class.

Books and SuppliesStudents may be required to purchase a textbook (noted in the course description).The ISBN number for the text and a link to purchase is also noted in the description.If required, a cash only supply or material fee will be payable to the instructor thefirst night of class. Please remember to bring any supplies listed in the coursedescription.

DiscountsSCE offers Veterans a 15% discount and a 10% discount for alumni and seniorcitizens. This discount does not apply to classes meeting less than 4 nights or tothose designated specifically for senior citizens. CREATE A NEEDLE FELTED BLUEBIRDCreate and learn needle felting in a fiber arts workshop and needle felt  aBluebird for a 3D sculpture or use as an ornament and/or pin.  einstructor will teach participants a variety of needle felting techniques tocreate a unique Bluebird  of their own and the felting knowledge to explorea multitude of future fiber projects.  Current information about theBluebird habitat will be discussed throughout the workshop as well asmany visuals for inspiration.  Each participant will go home with theirBluebird.  Nicol has been needle felting for over two decades and hascreated many wonderful felted birds, animal puppet characters, figuresand dolls. KEYS TO COMPREHENSION FOR SEI AND ENGLISHAS A SECOND LANGUAGEis version of e Key Comprehension Routine addresses the uniqueneeds that English Language Learners (ELLs) face with readingcomprehension, and it satisfies the MA DOE teacher re-licensurerequirement for 15 PDPs related to SEI/ELLs. is instructional routineteaches a foundational set of comprehension strategies that supportlistening and reading comprehension in any subject area using existingcontent materials. Participants learn how to use Key Comprehensionstrategies to consolidate content to make it more accessible to ELLs andto create opportunities for elaborated talk about content between ELLs

and fluent English peers. Topics covered include main idea skills, textstructure, top down topics webs and two column notes, summarizing,critical thinking, and supporting ELLs with differentiation and scaffolds.  Donna’s career in education began as a Title 1 interventionist in theWorcester Public School System. roughout her career, Donna alsoserved as a classroom teacher, Reading Recovery teacher, reading specialistand literacy coach. Most recently, she was an instructional coach,supporting teachers in delivering high-quality literacy instruction acrossthe curriculum before retiring in June, 2012. Donna has also presentedliteracy workshops at state and national conferences, and has providedjob-embedded literacy professional development at the school and districtlevels. In addition to being a trainer for Keys to Literacy, Donna also worksas an adjunct professor at American International College (AIC), whereshe teaches a variety of literacy courses, supervises practicum students andprovides support to other adjunct professors. Donna has a master’s degreein early childhood education from Worcester State College, and abachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts in elementaryeducation. WELDING Iis course is intended for anyone who wants to learn basic welding skills,knowledge, and safety procedures of Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) andOxygen and Acetylene welding, brazing and cutting processes. Each classwill consist of welding related lecture then proceeding with performancewelding tasks.Safety procedures will be stressed. WELDING LEVEL IIDo you want to learn advanced welding knowledge and skills?  is coursewill develop individual’s understanding of welding and its practice.  In thefirst half of the course, the instructor demonstrates and supervises thefundamentals of gas metal arc welding (mig), including flux core arcwelding in various positions and joint connections.  In the second half ofthe course, the instructor introduces students to an indispensableunderstanding and skill-set required of gas tungsten arc welding (tig) withmild steel and aluminum. e instructor will adhere to safety procedures.Students should be prepared to listen, observe and participate in activitiessafely. APPLICATION DEADLINEApplications should be on file no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018, for considerationfor the Class of 2019, beginning in August 2018.

LENGTH OF PROGRAMTen (10) months/41 sequential weeks, divided into three 10-week terms and one 11-weekterm from August through June.

PROGRAM HOURSThe Monty Tech Practical Nursing Program provides 1,230 instructional clock hours during its41 week sequential academic year. Monday through Friday (evenings) 3:30-9:50 p.m. untilclinical practice starts in Term 1, then Monday through Thursday. And every other weekend 7:00am-3:00pm.

TUITION REFUNDSIf the student is not receiving federal or state funding and withdraws from the Program, the following plan for refundof tuition will be followed: Before the first official class - 100%; After the first class, but before the 10th classmeeting - 75%; After the 10th class meeting, but before the 30th class meeting - 50%; After the 30th classmeeting - NO REFUND

ADMISSIONS EXAMArrangements to schedule the Entrance Exam at Monty Tech are made by registering online at www.atitesting.com andselecting the link “Register for TEAS” or by calling 1-800-667-7531. There is an $80 (non-refundable) exam fee to be paid atthe time of registration. No personal checks accepted.

The TEAS test was developed in 1999 to measure basic essential skills in the academic contentareas of reading, math, science, English and language usage. When creating an account on theATI website you will assign yourself a username and password. You will need to bring thisinformation with you the evening of the exam. The exam can only be taken twice to achieve apassing score in each content area. If the exam is taken outside of Monty Tech, but within thestate of Massachusetts, all four sections must be taken.
