A year ago this April , a group of organisations representing a cross oection of intereata &nd opinion• in Greenwich Vi llage , combined their efforts and bald a Memorial Meeting for Franklin : Delano Roosevelt. on the anniversary of hia ' death.
On the evening of April 13th, 19471 a similar Memorial Meetine wae held. This last meeting waa attended by approximately twelve hundred persons and was supported by contribut ions from organizations, individuals and business establiahmenta in the Greenwich Vi llage area.
You will note from the encl osed program who our sponaore wer e, and also t hat !irs ll.ary K. Simkhovitch 1a our honorary chairman.
After this l a st meeting the Coi!IDittee end many of its Sponsors felt that we ahould work for the principles of Frankl in Del ano Roosevelt throughout the next year, and not restrict ourselves to one Memorial ~eeting a year.
Our desire to continue in such a fashion ia motivated by the fact t hat both meetings were enthuaiaatically received and that the Committee finds itself in a relatively strong position financ ially.
We have heard of t he Franklin Delano Rooaevelt Memorial Foundat ion, of which we understand you are one of the foundera . It ~as our t hought that we might become a Greenwich Village Chapter of your Foundation, eo that we would a ll be workins towards t he same objectives and not undUly duplicat e our efforta .
