School boards play a critically important role in New Zealand’s schools and by extension, the wider community. This year we are encouraging people to step forward for their children, grandchildren and community to make a difference. To find out more, ask a current board member; Julie Pratt, Fiona Cameron, Jason Hampton, Quentin Cavanagh, Claire Carren and Jess Howard to learn more about the role of a school trustee. Kōrari is a programme designed for parents who have never been on a school board and would like to learn about the role of a trustee. https://www.trustee-election.co.nz/becoming-a-trustee/korari/ What I enjoy most about being a trustee at Waimataitai School is working alongside the other Trustees and school management. We meet about 3 times a term to discuss and decide on issues and direction to keep the big machine of Waimataitai School running smoothly. We look at anything from supporting student achievement to keeping a healthy happy school environment. It's a great team to be a part of and a real honour to be able to give back to the school community that has supported my children. Julie Pratt, Board Chair
