The history of Waldmann’s production and develop-

ment of opulent writing instruments began 90 years

ago in Pforzheim, the traditional German jewellery

metropolis in the Black Forest. The focus has always

Waldmann Company ProfileW a l d m a n n Company Profile1918 The company was founded by Adolf Waldmann for the production of high quality mechanical pencils made of sterling silver and gold.

1930 Invention of the first 4-colour PENCILS with TWIST ACTION for which worldwide patents were granted.

1937 Awarded the SILVER MEDAL for exclusive design and quality for four-colour pencils during the World Exhibition in Paris, France.

1956 Launched production of BALLPOINT and FOUNTAIN PENS in chromium plating, sterling silver, gold plate and 18-carat gold.

1958 Invention of the first two and four-colour ballpoint pens with TWIST ACTION for which worldwide patents were granted.

1960 Start of special “Private label” production of writing instruments made of metal for other companies operating internationally under their own brand for the stationery and jewellery trade.

1972 Waldmann receives worldwide patents for an exclusive writing instrument “Two in One”, a combined ball pen/fountain pen.

1986 The company’s exquisite craftsmanship and high quality standards lead to the launch and global distribution of writing instruments under licence of the haute couture label “TED LAPIDUS” – Paris.

1996 Launch and distribution of writing instruments under licence of another French haute couture label “CARVEN” – Paris.

1999 Creation and sales of an exclusive limited edition fountain pen made of sterling silver and fitted with diamonds to honour the 150th anniversary of the “America’s Cup” yacht race. This Waldmann collection was featured in the 2000 official America’s Cup Keepsake publication.

2001 Official supplier of a “CHAMPIONS” pen made of sterling silver for the “BYRON NELSON” golf tournament in the USA. All winners of the tournament for the previous 15 years received this fine writing instrument, exclusively designed for the event. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are some of the winners of this prestigious event that have received a Waldmann Byron Nelson official pen.

2002 Product placement of a sterling silver two-colour ball pen produced in the 1960s and re-launched again in 2002 in “Catch Me If You Can”, a Hollywood movie produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Leonardo di Caprio and Tom Hanks.

2008 90th Anniversary of the Waldmann company Production of an exclusive limited edition anniversary fountain pen, studded with diamonds, made of sterling silver with a piston filling system in a fine wooden case for the 90th anniversary.
