SPFP Food & Drink Project The aim of this project is to harmonise the
approach to skills development across the
whole food supply chain. This will include a
detailed analysis of the size and shape of the
food supply chain in Wales, a SWOT analysis of
current provision, development of new
qualifications (a process that will include
significant employer engagement and focus
upon the requirements of SPF (FE) from 2011)
and capacity building for existing providers. A
key part of the project will be to critically
evaluate both existing provision and the new
qualifications developed. All research coming
out of the in depth employer engagement will
feed into revising the Sector Qualifications
Strategies for the sectors and new
qualifications will be mapped into the Credit
and Qualifications Framework Wales (CQFW).
The main outcome of the project will be
enhanced and coordinated access to provision,
relevant and in line with current and future
employer needs. The Sector Skills Councils will
form networks for responsive provision of
skills in Wales.
