WALKER CREEK VIRTUAL SPRING MUSIC CAMP WEEKEND! Hello, Walker Creek family! We are pleased to announce online music camp activities for April 16-19. In addition to providing students with a fun weekend of learning, the goal is for our instructors to get some musical employment to help make up for the cancelled camp. And several instructors who are able have indicated they'll donate proceeds back to camp. Because instructors and students have such different online infrastructure and know-how, we decided the best option was a buffet- style weekend of 1-on-1 lessons plus a few group classes, streaming concerts, and other activities. If you have the desire and tech know-how to take an online lesson or attend a group meeting online, most (but not all) instructors who were scheduled for spring camp are offering something from April 16-19. Below you'll see which instructors are offering 1-on-1 lessons online and which instructors are offering something in addition to private lessons. If the spring camp instructor you signed up with is not on this list, it means they opted out. Please ask instructors directly if you have any questions or need more details about what they're offering. Instructor Contact 1-on-1 Lessons + Something else? One-on-One Lessons – How It Works Students, please contact individual instructors using the email addresses provided above to schedule lessons. Instructors are setting their own rates, so ask them. $70 an hour is about average, and some instructors are charging on a sliding scale between $50 and $100 for an hour-long lesson. You and the instructor will work out all the details and you'll pay instructors directly. We're trying to have the lessons take place from April 16-19 so it feels like we're having something of a music camp, but of course it's fine if you want to schedule lessons on other days, follow-up lessons, etc. Note: no matter who you signed up with for class, you can contact anyone for a lesson! The more the merrier! More Online Musical Fun! Below are the additional activities we have scheduled so far; and we may add a few more between now and mid-April (we'll send out another email before April 16

th). Several of these online activities will be conducted via Facebook Live, and you'll need a

Facebook account to view them—hopefully this isn't an inconvenience. These events will have a "virtual tip jar" where you can send a donation or payment to the instructor's Paypal or Venmo account. Schedule: ALL TIMES ARE PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME:

Harmony singing is an important and tremendously fun part of bluegrass music. In this session, you’ll experience close harmony bluegrass singing and learn how this is different from the kind of singing you might have encountered in choirs and in church singing. You will try your voice out for each of the three parts in a bluegrass trio (called the lead, tenor & baritone) and you’ll explore the different ways to arrange these parts depending upon the range of the singers and the key of the song. You’ll also understand how to arrange parts when men and women are singing together and learn the secrets of finding a harmony part on the fly in a jam session. All ages are welcome and there’s no need to bring an instrument – just bring yourself, as many friends as possible and your voices! Tip jar: https://www.paypal.me/BillEvansBanjo 25% of all donations will be given to the Walker Creek Music Camp!
