when a group of children
walk to school with one or
more adults.
The children are picked up
at designated “bus stops” by
an adult volunteer and the
group walks to-

By walking together, with a
parent volunteer, this will

Over the past 30

In a Safe Routes to
School study done
by the North Dakota
State Data Center in
2008 found that
nearly half of stu-
dents in the metro
area (Fargo, West
Fargo, Moorhead and
Dilworth) live a mile
or less from their
school, but 3 in 4
students travel to
and from school by
motorized vehicle
(including car, school
bus, shuttle, or car-
pool)
Walking to school will help chil-
dren get regular physical activity
and help to foster healthy habits
for a lifetime.
