From the Principal, Mr Paul Miller
WPS Band ProgramDear Parents,
This week, our band students recommence their face to face learning from school with both
individual tuition and band practice both starting this Friday. Congratulations to all these
students for the manner in which you have continued your learning online during recent months.
We look forward to hearing the pleasant sounds of musical instruments and hearing our band
again. During the COVID period, new band shirts have arrived which will be able to be used when
inter-school activities re-commence.
Wambi's WavebreakerTerm 2 Week 8 - 17 June, 2020
Student ReportsOur teachers are busy preparing a modied Semester 1 report to provide feedback on the progress
of your child. In recognition of the changes to educational delivery and the combination of both
face to face and remote learning that have occurred this semester, the report does not include the
A-E grading scale but rather will provide narratives about your child’s progress in English,
Mathematics and other Key Learning Areas.
The report will provide additional information on your child’s social development and
commitment to learning. The reports are scheduled to be sent home later this term.
Staggered DismissalsOur Lea Avenue Staggered Dismissals is proving very ecient for enabling parents to meet with
their children quickly at the end of the school day ensuring appropriate social distancing. We
have up to 240 students now being collected each day using this system.
To assist:
If using the ‘Parent Line’ in the car-park (Option #1):
Once you meet your child, please walk down the pedestrian pathway towards Lea Ave (avoid
walking back through the car park).
Hold your hands with your children when walking near the road as there are many cars about.
Take extra care if crossing to the northern side of Lea Avenue as cars in the Kiss and Drop Zone
are regularly moving forward.
If waiting in your car within the Kiss and Drop Zone (Option #2)
Parents who arrive after 3:00pm report waiting only 2 to 3 minutes from the time of arrival to
the time their child is safely within their car. Parents arriving prior to 3:00pm wait much
longer and are more likely to congest local roads.
Please move away from the Kiss and Drop Zone promptly once your child is in the car to enable
trac to keep owing. If your children need extra support or time getting into your car, please
consider using the Parent Line (Option #1).
Students are only able to participate in their designated Staggered Dismissal Groups each
afternoon (these are non-transferable times). i.e.:
Bradman & Chappell 3:00pm
Ford & Cawley 3:15pm
If someone else is picking up your child using the Staggered Dismissals system, please ensure
they are aware of your child’s designated dismissal time.
Have a great week,
P. Miller

Student Representative Council (SRC) NewsThe disruptions to school operations this year have meant that our Semester 1 SRC students have
not had appropriate opportunity to full their Semester 1 roles. As a result, there will be a
modication to the SRC program for 2020 with the Semester 2 SRC elections to be brought
forward to Term 2. This will enable both Semester 1 and Semester 2 SRC responsibilities to
commence in Term 3 and for the duration of the year. The SRC elections for Semester 2 will be
held in class in during Week 9 this term.
More information about the SRC roles and responsibilities is available in our Student
Participation and Leadership Guide.

Kinder 2021 Enrolments are now open! Our Kindergarten 2021 enrolments are now open and parents are encouraged to commence the
enrolment process. Please visit our school website to access all the Kindergarten 2021 enrolment
information and to download the application forms. If you know of any families who may have a
child starting kindergarten at Wamberal next year we would appreciate you sharing these details.
We are looking forward to sharing the start of 'big school' with our returning and new families.
Riding Safely to schoolMany of our older students are choosing to ride their bikes safely to school. Until children are at
least 10 years old, they should not be riding near vehicles or driveways. Children between 10 and
12 years old should ride away from busy roads and must follow bicycle road rules. This includes
riding on the left of roads and footpaths, giving pedestrians right of way, watching for cars
entering and leaving driveways and wearing a helmet. If you choose for your child to ride to
school, we remind you to discuss these expectations regularly.
Professional Learning in audio-visualpresentation skills
This week, Wamberal PS teachers are engaging in professional learning on the use of the new
audio-visual equipment in our hall. The sound system, surround speakers, cameras and large
screens oer endless exciting opportunities to enhance our assemblies and other school events.
Mr Bennett is leading these sessions and demonstrating the creative options made possible by
the new equipment. We look forward to sharing our new skills with our community when we are
able to welcome visitors onto our site in the future.
Have a great week everyone.
