What is “Nonprofit”?
The “Nonprofit Sector” is the collective name used to describe institutions and organizations that are nongovernmental and do not exist to make money for owners or investors.
Nonprofits are essential organizations that address community needs, advocate for community and social change, and engage citizens in democratic problem solving.

Nonprofit subsectors include:
Arts, Culture, Humanities Educational Institutions Environment and Animal Related Foundations and Philanthropic Organizations Health and Human Services Youth Work International, Foreign Affairs Public, Social Benefit Religion-Related Mutual / Membership Benefit Organizations (includes
unions, trade associations, political groups, etc.)
So broad that everyone could find
themselves employed by a nonprofit at
some point in their careers!

Meeting 10 Professional Development Competencies
Attending 1 Leadership/Management Institute
Participating in the Student Association for two semesters

Over 450 students were certified last year and more than 3,000 college students are annually enrolled in the certification program nationwide at over 50 colleges/universities
