In partnership with the British Council’s Generation UK – China campaign, UKVI is recruiting temporary staff to work at the British Embassy in Beijing during Summer 2017. UK Visas & Immigration is responsible for making decisions about who has the right to visit or stay in the country. Our responsibilities in China include: Managing more than 500,000 applications a year from Chinese nationals who wish to come to the UK to visit, study or work. Considering applications for British citizenship from Chinese nationals who wish to settle here permanently. Working with UK government partners to build strong relationships with the business, tourism and education sectors. The British Council’s Generation UK – China campaign, launched in 2013, aims to boost the number of young people in the UK engaging with China. We need Entry Clearance Officers and Visa Writers to assess, decide and process applications for visas to the United Kingdom, British Overseas Territories and a range of Commonwealth Countries. Varying contracts will be on offer but you must be available to work for UKVI in China between March/April and September 2017. If you are appointed as an Entry Clearance Officer, you will also need to attend and pass a week long training course. Why work for us? We offer invaluable international work experience with the UK government and a great opportunity to live in China and improve your language skills. We also provide an excellent package, including a net salary of 13,911 Chinese RMB (approximately £1651 per month) plus a 5% bonus on completion of contract, leave entitlement and an insurance plan.
