Warm-upDay of Ch. 6 Closure problems
6-88 Rocket ProblemIt is the end of the year. The Science and Engineering Club is going to have one last event. To celebrate, the club members plan to have a rocket show. Jairo suggested that the rocket fly over the school building and land near the parking lot.Since the rocket will be a fireball when it lands, the Science and Engineering Club needs to aim the rocket so that it lands in the pond near the parking lot.The launcher will be placed on the football field, 60 meters from the school building. The school building is 40 meters wide and 30 meters tall. The parking lot on the other side of the school building is 15 meters wide. At the edge of the parking lot is a pond that is 10 meters wide. June, the Science and Engineering Club president, needs your help to program the launch mechanism so that it not only misses the building, but lands in a safe spot: the pond. June knows that a rocket that flies extremely high would miss the building, but she wants it as low as possible so that it will be visible to the spectators. The principal agrees to allow the rocket to clear the building by 5 meters. For safety reasons, the principal wants assurances that the students can control where it lands. June has enlisted your help in programming the launcher.1) Find an equation that will tell the launcher where to send the rocket. 2) Prepare a diagram for the principle that predicts the height of the rocket at important
locations during the flight.
Use the starting point of the rocket as (0,0) on your graph.
