Warragamba Public School Keeping in Touch Term 3 Week 6 30 August 2019 Principals Message I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our amazing SASS staff for their never ending commitment to our school and its students. They are truly at the heart of much of what goes on in and around the school. They ensure our administration systems and processes run smoothly, they ensure our students are supported throughout the school and they keep our grounds looking exceptional. We would truly be lost without them and we are forever grateful for everything that they do. Please join me in thanking; Mrs D Wilson Ms B Fitzsummons Mrs A Summerhayes Mrs L Dowswell Mrs K Pes Mrs D Heffernan Mrs O Maycock Mr H Steinweiss Congratulations to all of our students who participated in our 2019 Athletics Carnival over the two weeks. Both days were amazing and we say a big thank you to Mrs Merrick for all of her hard work and organisation. A big thank you to parents who assisted on the day and also those who came along to support the students. We congratulate all of the students who have made it through to our Zone Carnival on Thursday and Friday of this week. Fingers crossed the weather holds out for them and they have a wonderful two days Zoo Snooz was a huge success in Week 4 with our Year 3 students having a wonderful time. Thank you to Mrs Cleary for all of her wonderful organisation and updates throughout the event. A big thank you also to Mr Meani, Mr Muller and Miss Murphy for supporting Mrs Cleary in the organisation and preparation and for ensuring that all students had an amazing time. For some of our students it was their first time sleeping away from home and from all reports they handled it very well. Congratulations to our Schools Cup Netball Team who went to Homebush Netball Centre on Tuesday the 13.08.19 to compete in the finals. Thank you to the parents who also went along to support the students Congratulations to Mrs Casey, Mrs Gerrie, Mrs Cleary, Mrs Wilson and Mrs Saunders for receiving a certificate at the Macarthur Network Awards last Thursday. It is always a pleasure to be able to acknowledge the hard work that happens in our Public Schools. This is an opportunity to recognise people in our schools that go above and beyond to ensure that our school and its students have the best possible opportunities. As a Principal it is an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to nominate staff and community members, for their achievements, their application to their work, their passion and drive for the roles they undertake and their professionalism. This year the awards took place as part of an evening event. Last year I had the pleasure of nominating Mrs James and Mrs Dowswell in their respective categories and they too received their certificates as part of a staff event. Well done to all of our students and staff who participated in the first of three gala days for this term. Always an exciting morning here at school as teachers and students prepare for the day ahead. We were blessed with gorgeous weather last Friday so hopefully that can happen for the next two as well!!!.

Congratulations to Conor C of 5/6P for his amazing achievements over the weekend. He received first place for his drawing in the Nepean Art Show. Conor attends art lessons each week and as a result of his 1st place he has now been invited to join the Penrith Art Society. It is always great to be able to acknowledge achievements beyond

the school gates. Conor has goals that he is working on achieving and we are so proud of him. Well done Conor!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 News!

Welcome to Week 6 Term 3!

It’s hard to believe that Spring is now only days away. How quickly our year is flying!

K-2 will hold an athletics carnival on Tuesday 10 September 2019. Once again, our day will be organised by Be Skilled Be Fit. This carnival will be funded by the school, so there will be no cost for your child to attend this event. Thanks Mrs Shepherd for funding this event for us! The children will rotate through a series of skills based athletic carnival activities and our day will conclude with running races. Parents are welcome to attend this event, please note, however there will be no canteen on the day of the carnival. A note will come home this week outlining all the details.

K-2 Students..….Please don’t forget that large balls cannot be taken to the playground in the morning. Soccer balls, footballs etc are a lunch time game, so if you are bringing your ball to school, please leave it with your school bag in the morning.

Next week K-2 students will hold their public speaking competition at school. Remember your loud, clear voices, your eye contact and have fun! Good luck to all our public speakers.

Working hard in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2!

Stage 2 Blurb

ZooSnooz – It was such fantastic Excursion! Everyone enjoyed themselves. Students struggled to select a flavour at the Gelato factory as there were 158 flavours to choose from. I think bubblegum ended up being the most popular choice. Students enjoyed the sights and sounds (well most of them….maybe not the seals) of the zoo. We had lots of praise from the leaders at the zoo about the bahaviour of Warra students. Well done!

Wooglemai – Only two weeks until we go to Wooglemai. The time is coming quickly. I hope

you have all been getting things organised and ready. We will have a meeting with the students early next week to ensure the students know the expectations of what to bring and what not to bring.

All of the students in stage 2 have been rotating between the other classes for Visual Literacy Lessons. Each teacher is focusing on a different aspect of Visual Literacy. Over the term, students will learn about Visual literacy through films, advertising, picture books and photographs. All students are enjoying these lessons.

Stage 3

Great Aussie Bush Camp The final amount for stage 3 camp has been finalised and a new note regarding payment has gone out. Please refer to the note that went home or on Skoolbag for further information. If you need a new note, please ask the ladies in the office or your child's classroom teacher.

Year 6 Farewell We are starting to organise and make decorations for the Year 6 Farewell. Miss Clarke & Mr Bruny are working with the Year 5 students to create the decorations and invitations. Mrs Stucki is working with the Year 6 students to complete their parts of the year book. The Year 6 Farewell is going to be on Thursday 12th December. We are interested to know if any of our parents are able to assist with decorations, props or maybe even the cake. We have many talented parents who may have something to offer. If you are able to help out in anyway, please let the Stage 3 teachers or Mrs Casey know, how you would like to assist.
