WARRINGAL ORCHID SOCIETY MARCH MEETING

Finally, the Covid-19 restrictions have been eased and at this stage we are able to proceed with our

monthly meeting for May at the Senior Citizens Hall in Hawdon Street Heidelberg as per usual time – so we

can commence the meeting at 8.00 p.m. All attendees are required to follow instructions attached at the

end of this Bulletin. Please arrive earlier as usual to prepare the benching.

The presentation will start @08:00 PM.

Presidents update: Dear WOS Members,

Its feels great to have the monthly meetings

again. I’m just a little bit disappointed that the Novice and Advance novice Growers are not

bringing many plants to bench. If you have anything in flower, just bring it in, it might win.

Just to remind everybody they still all have to scan in when they arrive. Last month’s speaker Murray Harding’s talk on the Kempsey

Orchid Spectacular and orchids in the wild that

he had seen was great.

This month we will be having Nette Meggetto

talking about the Genus Stanhopea, also known as the upside down orchid. These plants have

an interesting flower habit and growth.

For some of you who might not be familiar with Zac Giavris. Zac usually runs re-potting demo’s at the show. Hopefully she is able to do it again for this upcoming winter show.

Zac was unable to attend the last few montly meetings. However, she would like to say hello to everyone and she would like to share some of her orchids that are currently blooming.

Plant Auction Bob Rennison passed away last year. He was a life member of Warringal orchid society. His family would like to sell his orchid collection. So Warringal orchid society will be running a sale day on 23 May 10am -12 pm . Plants for sale are all growing cold . All plants are healthy. Plants for sale are Stanhopea , Cymbidium , coelogyne and a mix of other genera. Hope to see you there. Address – 44 Rosella St, Doncaster East.

OSCOV Display

Warringal Orchid Society has been invited to have a display stand at the upcoming OSCOV show in August 2021. At the next general meeting members will be asked if they want to supply plants, set up display and remove display on the Sunday, if members are willing then we will make a decision if we do or don’t. Please think about this before the next meeting.

1. If you are unwell please do not attend our meetings

• Please follow all DHHS recommendations in this matter

2. Entry will only be granted from the front entrance all other doors will not be in use

3. When entering you must register your attendance by using the provided QR code at the door or signing in manually at the door

• We recommend you sign in before bringing in your plants from your car

5. Please use the hand sanitizer provided at the front door upon entering and leaving the building

6. Social distancing of 1.5 metres must be maintained whilst in the hall

7. At the conclusion of the meeting all tables and chairs must be sanitised

8. No supper at this stage

9. Please bring mask just in case you are unable to maintain social distancing.
