Bonnie Jean Haggar, age 81 of Sioux Falls, passed away Wednesday June 3, 2015. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 pm with a memorial service at 7:00 pm Monday, June 8 at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue. Memorials may be directed to the El Riad Shrine Transportation Fund. Bonnie Jean Curl, daughter of Harold and Marie (O’Hearn) Curl, was born December 9, 1933 in Evanston, IL. Harold’s career took the family to several different cities in the Midwest and eventually settled in Sioux Falls, SD where she graduated from Washington High in 1951. She married James Sherman; they moved to California for a short time and returned to Sioux Falls. From this union brought two children, Cindy and James. She worked in the office at John Morrell and Co. before focusing on family as a homemaker and mother. In 1966, she began working at the Argus Leader in data processing. Bonnie was united in marriage with William Haggar on July 22, 1980, in Sioux Falls, SD. That same year she retired from the Argus Leader. The couple traveled the world; she enjoyed cross-stitch and was an avid reader. Bonnie and Bill loved to spend time traveling the area casinos for entertainment, dinners and games of chance which she continued after Bill’s passing in 2004. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Cindy Christensen and her fiancé Jim Slater, Sioux Falls, James (Amy) Sherman, Brandon, SD; five grandchildren, Cara (Michael) Uken, Renner, SD, Dana (Eric) Kroupa, Pukwana, SD, Diana Aichele and Jamie Sherman, both of Sioux Falls, SD, LCPL James Sherman, Camp Pendleton, CA; two great grandchildren, Brayden Uken, Renner, SD, Eleanor Dolly, Sioux Falls, SD; and two brothers, Robert Curl, Joliette, IL, and John Curl, Tacoma, WA; and William’s daughter, Sandra (James) Havard and family, Sioux Falls, SD. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, and a grandson, Jason Christensen.
