The service water generated for the wet processing of raw ma-terials cannot be drained into the ground untreated. Effi cient treatment preserves not only the environment but also makes allowance for the scarcity of water in many regions.

Comec-Binder clarifi cation plants reduce the environmental im-pact of building raw materials processing to a minimum.

The slurry arising from the wet processing of aggregates are con-veyed by gravity or pumps into the clarifi er. In the connecting pipe to the clarifi er, a polyelectrolyte fl occulant is added to the slurry, triggering the agglomeration of the fi ne particles. In the centre of the clarifi er the sedimentation of the fi ne particles begins. These settle on the bottom and are carried by the scrapers of the scra-ping bridge to the central sump. From there, the thickened slurry is carried by a speed-controlled single-screw pump into the slurry collection tank or to the dewatering plant. The clarifi ed water rises to the surface and fl ows into a collecting basin, from which the processing plant is again supplied with water.
