Watching the Wind
Monday 27th February 2017
Today we watched three short video clips of wind (see links below). We listened to the ideas of the children as the videos were
being played.
Strong Wind Blowing in Trees
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFYhVU2hOM4)
Alia: The branches are moving.
Henry: Leaves are moving.
Toby: I can see the tree move.
Jared: It’s not raining (making the connection that wind is not always accompanied by rain).
Alia: It’s making a sound.
Ollie: A windy noise.
Ava: The trees are going down.
Amelia: The leaves are waving.
What happens to birds or animals living in the trees when it is windy?
Ollie: The birds might shake and fall off.
Mia: They would fall out.
Ollie: The birds would find food.
Jared: The koala would climb.
High Wind Laser Sailing

What makes the boat go so fast?
Ollie: A fish.
Alia: The sail.
Ollie: The wind is making it go very fast.
Henry: My Dad’s boat has a propeller to make it go very fast.
Ollie: A sailboat couldn’t move with no wind but if it was another boat it would.
Windmill in action

Jade: I’ve seen one at the farm.
Ollie: It’s going faster because there is more.
Alia: It’s making water.
