Water cycle in English and Spanish

This is how the water cycle works. First there is a thing called Evaporation. Evaporation is when liquid water turns into water vapour then the water vapour goes into the air. Next the water vapour hits something cold like a cloud and it turns back into a liquid, that is called condensation. The water gathers up into the air and then it starts to rain, thunder or snow. That is called precipitation. After that the lakes, ponds, rivers and streams collect all the water and that is called collection. Then it starts all over again.

Thomas HawksleyThomas Hawksley was a hero in British history because he created pure, clean water.

Thomas Hawksley was born in Arnold in the year 1807 and died in 1893 because he suffered from drinking dirty water. He died in his late 80s When Thomas Hawksley was born there was no clean water available and he invented clean water in his early 80s. He created Papplewick pumping station and became famous for bringing clean water to the city of Nottingham.

Thomas Hawksley changed history by building a reservoir to collect and pump clean water.

He also was a great engineer to get his place in this era of history.

Pond Water We wanted to investigate how much bacteria we can find in pond water. To get pond water, we went to the allotment where there is a small mini pond. We needed three samples, a digital microscope to see the pond water very carefully and a thermometer to see what the temperature of the water was. First we got the three pond water samples. One was cold water, warm water and very warm water (Hot). We put a samples in the sun, fridge and in the classroom to make those samples cold, warm and very warm. We tested out the cold water and nothing moved and there was nothing alive. We tested the warm water and saw nearly 65 to 90 bacteria where some of them were huge and some were small. We tested the hot water where we put it in the sun, and saw 10 bacteria but some people saw 15 where I did not see them. Bacteria is in the pond water and if you drank it, you might get sick.So on our sheet we wrote how many bacteria were in each pond water sample. Our results were: Cold pond water: 2 bacteria Warm pond water: 70 bacteria (Average) Very warm pond water: 15 bacteria.

Finland Finland In Finland there is so much snow it comes up to 15 cm. It can be good because they can make big snow men and it’s good for having a snow fight because it’s that cold they get white foxes. Also in Finland when it’s winter they can ski when ever they want. But they can’t play certain sports like football because the snow is too high. And they cant play cricket because the snow is too high.

Salva’sSalva’s Story!Story!A Long Walk to Water is about a boy called “Salva Dut.” He lived in Sudan and was from the tribe called “Dinka”. His country was at war and he struggled through a lot in life with only little water. Salva was one of the “Lost Boys” who travelled to a refugee camp all the way in Ethiopia. His friend and uncle died that day, Salva thought he was never going to see his family again. After days, weeks and months of walking in the sizzling sun, he reached the refugee camp in Ethiopia! Salva heard from whispers, around the refugee camp, that his friends were going to go to New York. He had dreamed of going to New York and getting adopted by a family there. A few days passed and one of Salva’s friends came to him and said “Your name’s on the list,” “What list, where is it?” replied Salva, “the list of people who are going to New York.” Salva ran as fast as he has ever ran,.. he stopped. Salva read the name “Salva Dut,” he was going to Rochester, New York! Salva was getting ready to go on the plane, he got given quite a lot of clothes. “What are all these for?” he asked. “It’s snowing in America and you need warm clothes”. He reached the airport and met his family. A few months after, he started a charity for Sudan making wells, and getting clean water for a new country. A quick fact : Salva’s story is 100% TRUE! Virtual waterVirtual waterVirtual water is in things you can not see .Cows need water to drink and grass to eat and the grass needs water to grow. That is why there is 4500 of litres of water needed to produce a steak.

Virtual water is to used to make things and used to cook with as well.

This is a table to show how much virtual water is in each product.
