SUSTAINABILITY WATER CONSERVATION South Australia is the driest state on the driest continent in the world. And schools use a lot of water. Students and staff drink it. Cleaners wash with it. Grounds staff use it for irrigation. It all adds up. That’s why Tenison Woods College students have been thinking about ways to ask smart by saving water. Simple things like fixing leaky taps and capturing rain water are areas students have investigated and implemented. Student initiatives have resulted in improved drinking facilities for students in play areas which we know plays a critical role in the developing of young people. One particular low-lying area of the College has been earmarked in the recent Master Plan iteration as a wetland and conservation area, providing a living laboratory on water management and repopulation of native species.
