As part of your plan, store water in food-grade storage containers that have been cleaned with soap and water. Seal the containers with the original tops. Place a “drinking water” label on the containers and include a storage date. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and areas near gasoline, chemicals or other toxic substances. You will need at least one gallon of water per person for three days—and more if you have a pet. Water main repairsEvery water company experiences main breaks from time to time, especially during frigid weather. SUEZ works to make repairs quickly, safely and with the least interruption to our customers. First, we send an inspector to assess the problem and arrange for personnel, equipment and materials. Before we can begin to dig, we are required by law to wait for mark-outs from other utilities to locate gas lines, sewer lines, telephone lines, cable

lines or traffic control systems. This important step ensures the safety of the community, our employees and other responders.

Most breaks are repaired within hours. On occasion, it may take longer due to a difficult location, weather conditions, fire protection concerns or impact on customers. For SUEZ, restoring service quickly and safely go hand-in-hand. We appreciate your patience should a main break occur in your neighborhood.

Help your local firefighters

You can help make your neighborhood safer in winter by clearing a three-foot space around fire hydrants on or near your property. This important step will help firefighters locate hydrants in an emergency. Saving precious minutes can save lives and property. If you see any damaged or leaking fire hydrants, please contact SUEZ so we can make immediate repairs.
