Welcome!
The summer months
offer opportunities to
enrich your ministry and
personal walk with God
through courses and events taking place
both at Waverley Abbey House in Farnham
and at Pilgrim Hall in Uckfield, East Sussex.
A key event will be the commissioning of Pilgrim
Hall as an additional ministry centre on Saturday
13 July – and we hope that many of you will be
able to join us in thanksgiving for God’s gracious
provision of our expanding ministry needs.
The autumn will also see the launch of CWR’s MA
Counselling programme (subject to approval
by the University of Roehampton), allowing us
to take our unique, biblically-based training of
Christian counsellors to an even greater depth.
This summer’s programme has been
prayerfully put together to reflect the spiritual
and practical needs of God’s people.
May God bless and guide you!

yBIBLE DISCOVERYBible Discovery courses are an
invaluable opportunity to dig
deeper into the Bible and grasp
more of the wonder of God’s
story. Each course offers in-depth
teaching, worship, fellowship
and time for personal reflection
in peaceful surroundings.
The Pebble Who Became a RockLed by Philip Greensladetracking peter’s faith
journey from big fisherman to
founding apostle, as recorded
in the gospels, acts and 1 and 2
peter, we will be led to revalue
the man described by new
testament scholar martin Hengel
as ‘the underestimated apostle’,
and we will be encouraged and
challenged by his amazing story.

The Big Story – Genesis to RevelationLed by Philip Greensladegifted bible teacher philip greenslade
will take us through the exciting
narrative of Scripture to gain
understanding of its deep underlying
structure and the overarching
redemptive strategy of god.
We will explore:
• The narrative approach to
understanding Scripture
• How the important pieces of the
biblical narrative fit together
• How God’s kingdom rule was implemented
in history through a series of
covenantal arrangements, culminating
in Jesus and the new creation
• How our personal stories relate to God’s
bigger story so that we can more fully
participate in the eternal purposes of God
– and help others to play their part too.
We will also discover that this
is an approach which fits the
Church’s current context in a
postmodern world suspicious of all
overarching accounts of reality.

Famous Last WordsLed by Philip Greensladepaul’s Second letter
to timothy is possibly his ‘last
word’ and final testimony and also
perhaps his most personal epistle.
paul writes from a pastoral heart,
with tough love, to instruct, inspire
and invigorate the young pastor
timothy, his ‘son’ in the faith.
in it we hear the urgent
apostolic invitation:
• Treasure above all else the priceless
apostolic gospel entrusted to the Church
• Be strengthened to keep the
faith and finish the course
• In each generation invest in God’s future
for the sake of generations to come
• The most movingly personal of appeals:
‘Come before winter ... and bring the cloak
...’ (2 Tim. 4:21,13, The Amplified Bible). What
could be more important than to study
Scripture – this bit of Scripture – together?
