tour showcases Las Ramblas

Boulevard, the most famous in

Barcelona, dotted with bird and

flower stalls. Also see the Columbus

Monument, Parc Montjuic, and

several UNESCO World Heritage

sites linked to Antonio Gaudi

including the unconventional Casa

Mila building, Parc Guell, Batllo

House and his unfinished masterpiece,

“La Sagrada Familia.” This afternoon

continue to explore colorful Barcelona

on your own. This evening you will

see Beethoven’s Ninth at Palau de la

Day 6: Sunday, May 25, 2014 Barcelona Visit the Picasso

Museum* where one of the 20th

century’s most significant artists is

revealed through the genius of the

more than 3,800 works that make

up the permanent collection. The

museum captures Picasso’s intimate

relationship with Barcelona, a

connection that lasted throughout his

life. Later, enjoy a leisurely-paced

walking tour of Barcelona’s historic

Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter), a

beautifully preserved neighborhood of

gothic buildings and medieval squares

set inside a labyrinthine street plan

leading to the 13th century La Seu

Cathedral. Spend the remainder of the

day at leisure, independently

exploring the sights and sounds of this

striking city. Or you may take an

optional excursion to Montserrat, a

spectacular mountaintop monastery.

Day 7: Monday, May 26, 2014 Barcelona - AVE High Speed Train - Madrid After a leisurely breakfast you

climb aboard the futuristic AVE High

Speed train. AVE stands for Alta

Velocidad Española and you can

travel between Barcelona and Madrid

in less than three hours. Sit back, relax

and gaze out of the windows as you

are whisked through the picturesque

landscapes of Catalunya, Castilla and

Leon. Arrive in Madrid, Spain’s

capital and largest city. While Madrid

possesses a modern infrastructure, it

has preserved the look and feel of

many of its historic neighborhoods

and streets. Next, you are in for a

treat! No trip to Spain would be

complete without experiencing a

classic tapas dinner in the heart of

Madrid. Enjoy Old World ambiance

and traditional castillian “tapas” with

unlimited Rioja wine. Later, view

Madrid’s major sights and avenues

illuminated at night including Plaza

Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de

Espana, the Royal Palace, Gran Via

Day 8: Tuesday, May 27, 2014 Madrid During a locally guided tour of

Madrid’s historic center you will see

the Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor,

where events have been held since the

17th century. You will also see

beautiful Paseo Castellano, Gran Via

and Plaza de Espana. Next, a guided

tour of the Prado Museum*, open

since 1819, offers a historical and

cultural perspective on this

magnificent institution. Boasting a

world-renowned collection, the

Prado is best known for the works

of Velazquez and Goya held within

its walls. The remainder of the day is

at leisure. Perhaps you’ll choose to

explore the huge Royal Palace or the

Royal Theatre with its restored 1850

Opera House. The Reina Sofía and the

Thyssen-Bornemisza museums are

also popular with visitors. Your tour

manager will be on hand to offer

suggestions. Tonight enjoy

Day 9: Wednesday, May 28, 2014 Madrid - Toledo - Madrid Today you

visit Toledo, a UNESCO World

Heritage site and the capital of

medieval Spain until 1560. A

comprehensive walking tour**

highlights the magnificent Gothic

cathedral and the 13th century

synagogue, a testament to Toledo’s

Jewish heritage. Also, stop in the

Church of Santo Tome to view El

Greco’s masterpiece painting, The

Burial of Count Orgaz. Return to

Madrid for a final afternoon to explore

at leisure. This evening, join your

fellow travelers for a farewell dinner

celebrating the end of a wonderful

Dinner at the Port & the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc $85 USD

While in Barcelona, tantalize your taste buds with Mediterranean cuisine at one of Barcelona’s waterfront restaurants,

Moncho’s. You will enjoy a wonderful three course meal of typical local dishes while enjoying a glass of regional

wine. Famous for its seafood and local cuisine, Moncho’s will surely be a highlight for anyone traveling to Barcelona.

After your delicious dinner, proceed to Plaza D’Espana to see the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc – for a spectacular

display of color, light, motion, music and water acrobatics. A "must-see" attraction when you come to Barcelona, The

Magic Fountain of Montjuïc first spouted on May 19, 1929 during the Great Universal Exhibition and heralded the

discovery of a new art, the art of light. Light would no longer be used only to illuminate the night, but rather to

embellish it too.

Please Note: The Magic Fountain hours of operation are: Summer: (May to September) Thursday, Friday, Saturday

and Sunday from 9:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Music Sessions: 9:30 pm, 10:00 pm, 10:30 pm, and 11:00 pm; Winter:

(October to April) Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Music sessions: 7:00 pm, 7:30 pm, 8:00 pm, 8:30

A leisurely drive through picturesque villages brings you to majestic Montserrat Mountain, soaring 4,320 feet above

sea level. A local guide will lead you on a tour exploring the area's most important sights. While here, stroll the

grounds of the 8th century monastery and see its famous Romanesque sculpture of the "Black Virgin," patron saint of

Catalonia. This is also the site of many pilgrimages and where Christopher Columbus brought natives to pay homage.
